This is an old building that's not well maintained. The roach problem is fairly recent, but there are roaches. Recent rent increases have been huge. The renovations by the new management are cheap and superficial. Noise is a real problem, as is fire safety. My car had substantial damage while parked in the parking lot, including several door dings, scratches, and dents, smashed lights (twice), a damaged bumper, and a punctured tire (from sheet metal screws thrown into the parking lot by workers in the building). Repairs came to thousands of dollars. Parking is hard to find late at night. The elevators are old and unreliable and slow! One more thing. The management will hold you to that 60 day notice required in the lease if you move out. Even if you find a new place sooner, count on paying 2 months rent after you give notice.

Seriously? Smashed headlights? I have never seen anything like this and I have lived here for almost 2 years. And parking late at night... NEVER a problem, I get home from work between 11 and 12 pm and don't have a problem at all. In fact, I think there are about 20 open spaces at all times!
That's really quite unfortunate for you :P

You know what so funny about some people who vent on these sites...is that they vent on these sites. I've lived in apartments for a few years and they ALL had something wrong.
Lease - I have yet to live in an apartment that didn't hold you to what is required in the lease. It's a lease, you read it (I hope) and signed it. Deal with it!
Noise- You live in a building with 100 plus people and personalities. Is it suppose to be noise free? You must sleep on Greenbelt Road if there is a problem w/noise in the building.
Renovations - Boo hoo management made changes to the building. Cry me a river. Stupid management for making things nice cheap or otherwise.
Parking - Everybody can't park next to the building. As previously stated, that's unfortunate for you. Don't say there isn't enough parking say you are too lazy.
Elevators - Why change everything else and not the elevators? Ponder this: Would it make sense to drag all the windows, cabinets, appliances, and other renovation material on new elevators? I was told they were going to be changed. And so far everything that I was told was going to be changed has been changed.
Car damage - Those thousands of dollars would have been better spent. How can your car sustain so much damage if you can't ever find a parking space? Which means you park on the street which is city property. Have you vented online to the city? What did management do when you told them your tire was damaged by screws from the construction?
Fire Safety- Where?
Apartment living is not for everyone. Buy a house or move if you're so unhappy.

Elevators are very slow and stairs will win the race every time. RAte increases (have you seen the housing market) Energy cost are up to so with utilities included the rent is in line with the market. Noise is there mostly in the hallsways but it is not over the top. But Parking....ummmm I have an apartmetnt that over looks the parking lot I see it everyday ALL Day and there are ALWAYS open spots and the design is so that you are never too far away. That just isn't true.
As far as the 60 day notice we asked about this before moving in and managment told us this was the case. So if this is a problem...Go buy a house and see what they tell you.
