Long story about their suckiness

Brittany Place is a joke! There are so many problems with this complex, believe me when I say YOU SHOULD NOT MOVE HERE! And if you live here right now I strongly suggest you not renew your lease and find another place to live. The buildings are old, the appliances are old, there is dust everywhere, I have no idea where it comes from but it is not a normal amount of dust. The maintenace staff sucks and the management is worse. They rent goes up every year while the condition of the complex goes down. There is constantly trash strewn about everywhere. A list of problems in my apartment this year: dishwasher broke, washing machine broke, bathroom fan broke, bathtowel rack broke, water leaking into my apartment and the drywall cracked...A list of what was fixed: the washing machine. That's it. The rest was ignored regardless of how many times I called about it.

All of these things (and much more that I don't have time to get write as I'd be here all day) made me realize that I was not going to renew my lease in this hell hole. I typed up my two-month notice and hand delivered it to one of the women in the office. I don't remember her name but she is a black lady with a curly weave who talks with a lisp. She is extemely incompetent. In my letter I asked that someone be present to inspect my aparment on move out day and to call and set up a time. By law they are required to do this and if they do not they cannot claim any damages out of your security deposit. So like I said, they never called. When the day came for me to move out, I put my keys in an envelope and left them at the office with a letter reminding them I'd be expecting my security deposit within 45 days as required by Maryland law. I called everyday for two weeks for someone to let me know the status of my deposit. Each time someone took my name and number and assured me Lisa Watson would get back to me. Everyday for two weeks she never called. Then I get a call from a man who tells me that I will not be receiving my security deposit because I broke my lease. I said what do you mean I broke my lease, my lease is up. He says that you have to give a written two month notice and they have no record of it in my file. At this point I am pissed. You would be too after two years of dealing with the same dumb ---- time after time. I told him it's not my problem if your incompetent staff misplaced my letter. I have a copy of the letter with a Brittany Place stamp on it and if I don't get my deposit back in the allotted time, I will see you in court, where I will be able to sue for three times the amount of my deposit. And of course I will win becuase I have the copy of the letter. He said management has changed and if I could just fax the letter they will process the paperwork and get my deposti out to me in two weeks. Basically I refused. I am not responsible for their ineptitude. So now I am counting down the days until my deposit gets here in the mail. If I don't receive it by 8/01/06, they will be in court ponying up $3000 plus court costs.

Love, I know how you feel however, I am glad to hear that fat azz Anita Stanford is no longer there. Now the need to get that dumb azz lazy Lisa Watson out of there and Brittany Place might get better.

I am a current resident of Brittany Place and I agree with this statement and all other similar statements to that effect. Every week something breaks or the ceiling leaks when the tenant above me flushes the damn toilet. Maintenance responds on their inappropriate timeframe and believe that "nothing" is an emergency. When they do decide to respond, they have no idea how to fix the problem or walk into your apartment with a serious attitude because you are keeping them from something more important. Each time I have tried to reach the manager, she is never available or refuses to return my calls. Now that it is a buyers market, which I have been waiting for, I am currently in the process of looking for a new home to purchase because it is truly a waste of money to spend it here at Brittany Place. I may as well live in the projects because that is what Brittany Place is and exactly how tenants are treated.
