We moved into our apartment, sight unseen, in August and have had a very good experience so far. The leasing and maintenance staff have been excellent. Our apartment was clean and in good order when we moved in. Our minor complaints (namely a squeaky ceiling fan and a shelf that needed replacing) were both fixed immediately. We have not had any bug problems yet. But there is an exterminator service available every Thursday if we do. As everyone says, parking is limited in the parking lot, but there always seems to be additional parking available a short walk away on the street. The charm of this place is the trees and grass that surround it; I would rather have that than more asphalt. The apartments are quiet and feel very safe. An added perk to having the police station down the street is that, after the hurricane, Pepco restored our power before many other places in the area. The UM Shuttle stops right here and the Metrobus stop is just up the street. One can cross the street and walk through the park to get to the center of the old town, which is a fun place in a progressive, organic food, art house movie theater kind of way. Someone complained about the ditches in the road leading into the complex. Well, it was repaved before we arrived. We have had some trouble with static on our phone line, so if you move here be sure to get the wire maintenance plan so that you don't have to pay for Verizon to come out and fix the wiring (the leasing office says that they only have to provide a phone line that works, not one that is free of static). We have a 1 BR and have had no problems with the AC, even though it was nearly 90 degrees for the first few weeks that we were here. We do hear our upstairs neighbors walking around. The upstairs apartments are all supposed to have carpetting to cut down on the noise, but I haven't seen if it's true throughout. In general, the place is pricy, but from what I've seen it is a good value for the area where everything is overpriced. Strongly recommended, especially for UMCP graduate students.
