I've lived in this complex for more than two years. Used to be a nice place. Staff were responsible and manager who lived in the community was nice. However, the previous manager left at the beginning of this year, and service starts to worse-off. Staff usually arrived later and left earlier. Had an unpleasant experience with the new manager about air condition problem of the apartment. We've tried everyting to keep the room cool and report several times for technician's inspection. We kept the air-conditioner on and paid over $200 electricty bill each month, but we finally got is still the uncomfortableness during nights(sometimes as high as almost 90 degree) and we cannot even fall asleep before 4:00AM. This is a long-time problem of lakeside north apartment, while things gets really intolerable this summer. We try to discuss with the new manager about possible solutions such as install a new air-conditioning unit, adding another single-unit air-conditioner, change us to a new apartment,or just provide us a temporary place to sleep during extremely sweaty nights. However the new manager seems to be reluctant and careless about residents' feeling as he keep on telling he can do nothing except that we could give a 30-day notice and move out.

When I first moved in, my air conditioning was barely working. I slept miserably for an entire summer. This year, I reported a problem with the AC to see how they would handle it. They added more refrigerant, but it didn't help much. I reported a problem again the next day and when I came home, the technician had installed a brand new AC unit. He told me that the old unit was simply "old" and it wasn't worth trying to repair it. The new unit's not perfect, but at least I can keep my apartment comfortable (around 75 degrees) even on the hottest summer days. My advice is to talk to the technician. The property manager knows nothing about AC repair and he's just trying to save money. The technician is the one who decides how to handle the problem, and he will probably agree that your unit isn't working.

I just want to say that some people are a little bit hard on the new manager. He is young, true, but I really believe that he is doing his best. He is a little bit shy sometimes so he does not come to you and start a conversation with you like Kelly (the previous manager) but he is very polite, responsible and takes his job very seriously. I think he will be as good as the previous manager very soon.

Polo, you sound as if you are the manager, as much as you are kissing up. The fact is that the office closes at 5:30 - ridiculously early for a leasing office when people need to be there after work. 8 or 9 is how late good offices stay open. And if you've noticed, the main problem was the the attitude, which from several posts here is 'well, just move out' from the new 'manager.' If you are an ass intentionally, be prepared to be called an ass. A/C is a huge problem here, and to deny it and blame it on others and make snide comments such as 'you are in an apt for a reason' really degrades yourself. The ship is sinking, open your eyes.

I lived in the complex from 1996 to 1998 when there was the same A/C problem. I see it hasn't been resolved and I guess never will. Those old dinosaurs ALL need to be replaced with up-to-date A/C units! Kelly and Angela were the best!
