No complaints. Better than hoped.

I read some of the reviews here, and I think, "What do people expect'" It's not paradise, it's an apartment complex. The staff can't change the way the buildings were designed, and they can't change the physics of heating and cooling. To some degree, it just is what it is. I want to remind my fellow residents that electricity has gone up substantially in the past few years throughout the area; it may not be the fault of your AC. I pay about $100/month in the summer and $40 in the winter. Get on PEPCO's budget plan and you can pay the same year round.
If you need absolute control of your environment, if you need everything to be just the way you want it, then buy a house.
I have nothing but praise for the staff. They have bent over backwards to accommodate me (the only caveat is that the junior leasing agent occasionally "forgets" to submit maintenance requests and occasionally cops an attitude, but hey, I could probably say the same thing about myself). I mentioned that the mirror in the bathroom might need to be adjusted (I'm tall); a completely new and large mirror and medicine cabinet were installed before I moved in. I wanted a programmable thermostat, so I bought one at Home Depot and they installed it for me. Every maintenance request is handled quickly and correctly. In August, there is a "Resident Appreciation Day" with free food, games, and prizes.
In the apartment itself, the carpet was newly installed (although I can feel nails and/or missing tiles/wood under the carpet in a couple of spots). The dishwasher is old but it works. Fridge and stove are brand new. AC works just fine: I can refrigerate meat here in the summer. More trouble keeping place warm, although I came from a place that was 80 degrees year-round, so this may be me. Temp at thermostat is 5-7 degrees warmer than in the "outlying areas," which makes for cold spots. I have a small heater fan that makes up the difference quite well, though, and a heating blanket solves the bedroom coldness for the most part.
Ground floor apartments have lots of extra closet space (about 60 sq ft). I do get a few centipedes, but they prey on other bugs, so I generally leave them be, and I see the occasional cricket or spider.
Parking is a problem for more than one car per apartment. That's because when these were built, people generally had only one car. The complex is one block from the Greenbelt Police headquarters and is kind of on a dead-end street, so safety is good. Parking lots and sidewalks extremely well-lit (almost too much so if you like a dark bedroom).
The complex is quite nice.
