On the decline due to new manager

I would echo the 5/13 reviewer about the new manager. The previous manager was far more accomodating and cared about the residents, not just doing the bare minimum.
I put up with some of the annoying things for years, even posted a great review here a couple of years ago. But enough is enough!
Rodents/bugs:Since I've been at Lakeside North, we've had wasp problem (nest), cockroach problem and mice problems. Fortunately, the cockroaches have been gone the past 2 years.
A/C: My a/c died on me during the summer. They kept replacing the freon, which would cool the place for a couple of days. Eventually, maintenance told me that it'd have to be replaced, but only the next year. So, I sweltered through a summer, doubling my utility bill trying to get any A/C possible, plus fans in every room. The next year, the did replace the unit (maintenance has been friendly throughout). However, the A/C and heat are very loud (in the midst of winter and summer, they have to run constantly, and the volume is bad. If you watch tv, be prepared to adjust the volume dramatically every time it shuts off for a minute, then resumes.
Ventilation. The living room warms up in the winter and cools in the summer, but the bedrooms are hot in the summer and frigid in the winter. With the thermostat set to 80, my roommate, who's generally very warm natured, had long sleeves and 3 layers of covers. Inexcusable. During the winter, cold air seeps thru the windows, but duct tape is all they will give you. Supposedly, they are replacing the windows piecemeal over several years.
Roof work: I'm all for fixing the roof, but must you start at 7 a.m.' Even on Saturdays. After a long week of work, to be awoken by loud crashing noises at 7 or 7:30 was incredibly distracting for several months. One day it got so bad that things were falling off our wall and cupboard. You think new management is going to pay for the damage'
They replaced the washer and dryers, but if the washer is not leaving standing water, the floor is. Also, they switched to a card system. I've seen this intelligently implemented at other places. Not here. Initially, they put the card recharger in the leasing office, not in the units. It was connected to the phone system, so if the leasing agent was on the phone, your card would not validate. What if the call took 10 minutes' Ummmm. Given that the leasing office has terrible hours (9-5:30) during the week, if you have a job, forget about recharging your card during the week. In fact, they were closed consecutive weekends for the holidays, so the working tenants were really screwed.
Ah, but they moved the machine to the laundry room of the leasing office. It's more accessible now in terms of hours, but only having one when good places have them in multiple units is still inconvenient.
Some of the benefits are still there, such as being located by the police station at the end of a street. But management is making it unbearable. The new manager had the gall to tell me that 'where I live they don't care if you've lived there four years,' when using that as an excuse for mismanagement.
Kellie was a good manager, Angela will actually help you. There's another new guy whose name I don't know, who seems good, but the new manager (appears to be fresh out of HS or undergrad) thinks he rules the world and only cares about his policies, which are enforced in an inconsistent, ship-shod manner, at best.
Given where Lakeside North was, I can't see it doing anything else but getting worse based upon trends from the past 2 years and the new manager's attitude. It's okay for grad students who want something cheap and relatively safe, but if you work, STAY AWAY.
