I moved into this community in August 2007. I've been in Greenbelt, near greenway center renting a townhome for 7 years prior to moving to Lakeside North Apartments August of 07. I am into year one of being a resident of the community. Overall I would give the community 3.5 stars out of 4 stars. The maintenance staff are friendly, respond in a timely manner and follow through wonderfuly on all my requests. I have not seen any roaches or rodents in my unit and the grounds are very well maintained. Even the cleaning staff are very friendly and speak. I work from home so it is imperative during the day it isn't loud noises. This was a problem briefly but was cleared up within 24 hours upon reporting to management staff.

As far as the new manager, I find him to be professional and responsive to tenant requests. I have spoken to a couple people I know in the community who prefer the previous manager over the current, but since I have no dealings with the previous manager He gets the job done in my opinion. He acts immediately to any requests, and he is very thorough in his explanation to requests.

My only issue was I was a bit taken that my rent increased by $50 in one year... with the monthly pet rent of $20 per pet (I have one it went from $1140 to $1200 - I felt was a bit much. They did put new windows in the units last to assist with keeping it cool in the summer and warm in the winter and they have carpeted the units as new tenants move in as well. However, the heating and airconditioning system is extremely old and really needs to be revamped to assist with conserving on electric pricing. My electric bill has never reach $200 so I am happy... it cost me an arm and leg in the townhouse and the landlord wouldn't change out the windows - bills were close to $300 some months!

Lakeside North Apartment Homes is a great place to live. I definitely recommend it... if you have 2 or more car resident parking for additional cars will be challenging, especially when returning in the evenings. I have one car and I appreciate my reserved parking and would not have moved here if they did not have that!

Yeah, Jeff- the new manager- can be overly formal or try to turn something simple into a long procedure (switching apartments, for instance) but he's nice and totally on the ball. But here's the deal: When you move to the Greenbelt area (College Park included) you have to be careful where you live. If you can't afford to move into a GHI, move into Lakeside North. It's especially good for people with kids - 3 nearby parks, including an on-site playground, free pool (including kid pool!), and a big picnic area for anyone to use. The above review was spot on. The maintenance guys are total pros and they are so nice and never leave a mess. They'll come at 1:00 a.m. on Christmas Eve if they need to. The AC and heater are sooo loud, though. And the new windows have leaked in our apartment. But overall, this is the best choice in the neighborhood. Don't move into Crescent Square.
