Good prices, too much crime

Well, I chose to live here because it?s near the University of Maryland, and it?s cheap as hell. You get a lot of space for the money, and you don?t have to pay utilities. And I personally haven?t seen roaches, or anything else like that. So, if you only care about saving money, check this place out.

But you should also get out a coin and flip it. Was it heads' Then you?re car will get stolen. I swear, cars get jacked all the time. I can?t believe my car hasn?t been stolen yet (other friends I have in Springhill Lake have had theirs broken into). Maybe it?s because my was stolen last year (different place) and there?s some sort of karmic limit to how often your car can get stolen...

Anyway, crime is a problem here. If you have a decent TV/stereo system, keep your blinds drawn all the time. And if you have to walk around, stick to the parking lots. I just pretend I?m really pissed off, and that I have a gun. It?s worked so far.

Oh, and plenty of places will not deliver here after dark. Some pizza places will deliver, but you have to come out to the car and pick up your pizza. The good news is that you can make bets with your friends about how many times your driver?s been robbed. If you ask him the last time he got robbed in Springhill Lake, he?ll probably say "Last week" or something.

Oh yeah, kids really like to run in front of you when you drive, so make sure not to hit them (they?ll leave blood on your car).

And people keep stealing the Target shopping carts from Beltway Plaza to use them as modes of transportation. I think Target even hires a guy to collect them all back. What a job.

Oh, and the damned cabs that pick people up in the morning love to honk their horns for 10 minutes. I think the cabbies all compete to see who has the loudest horn-honking skills. It drives me nuts.

And the maintenance is slower than an elderly woman behind a dumptrunk. We were living here 6 months before we got our oven working. But they did just fix our dishwasher in only three days, so that?s good. An average of 3 months per maintenance request.

So, in conclusion, you can save money here, but make sure to throw away all your clothes with gang colors first.
