I've lived in SHL for 8 months now, and have had nothing but problems. Our neighborhood is constant hangout for the Greenbelt police. Our neighbors are loud and like to drink outside, piss on the side of buildings, and blast their music from the patio at all hours of the day. The folks in our apartment building shout, swear and spank their children in the hallways.

Bugs haven't been much of a problem, but trying to get the maintenance staff out here is a joke. We are in a basement apartment and were without heat until mid-December, and never got an apology.

Collections is insane as well. We've had trouble with them for several months in a row. Once they lost our check, and fined us a late fee. Then they couldn't read which apartment we wrote down, and charged us a late fee. Most recently, they didn't recognize that they had received our online payment, charged us extra, then fined us again. They've said once more and we're getting evicted and sued, even though all were their errors.

SHL is pretty horrible. 80 percent of Greenbelt crime is generated from there. Many of the residents are real low-life. Kids tear up the halls, and as you say, neighbors blast their music at all hours. I called once about the air and they told me that it wasn't scheduled to be on for three more weeks. It was 90 degrees!! SHL is basically a money-making scam of getting people to sign a one-year lease and then after that they don't care what happens. It's similar to the same money-making scam that most commercial gyms use.

SHL is a horrible place to live and unfortunately lately so many fires have been supiciously breaking out over that whole place. Hang in there you only have four months left before you lease is up.

Again, it's all in where they put you. I KNOW that a lot of these people out here are off the hhok and ghetto, but in my area, I don't have to deal with that, thank God. Sorry you are going thru this. As for collections, they are just as incompetent as my unborn niece!! I can honestly say that I can NOT stand those ignorant, ghetto and unprofessional hags over there. Get legal advice because they are wrong and trying to blame you. Good luck with the next 4 months.
