I m now currently a resident at Empirian Village in Greenbelt, MD. But, a chain of events leading to my lease signing and after was very dissatisfactory. This had no reflection on the leasing consultant that I was working with. But, the current NEW management I would describe as despicable, unorganized, and to be blunt had no idea what they were doing.
They made my experience very unpleasant, fortunately for you I was already set on moving and had a date for move in and had no time to change my mind, time was of essence. The management as I observed was very unprofessional, and apparently their not communicating very well. As one who deals with sales I understand that one pushes to get sales and make a quota, but I would never sugar coat or put blame on those who don t deserve blame to (as we say in the business world c.y.a) cover your ass. Where is the honor and respect' Why isn t your NEW management taking responsibility for their own actions' I will NOT recommend any of my friends nor colleagues to relocate to this complex. Customer service is ridiculous here. I m in the customer service field, I am a manager, and I never put blame on my employees for anything to cover my back.
All I heard was excuse after excuse and people pointing fingers. Managers are supposed to be leaders. Or so I thought. A manager is supposed to guide their employees and support them, not ridicule and deter them from being the best they can be. They re supposed to want then to advance. If management isn t doing their job properly then their employees will not be motivated, and won t succeed. As a result the company will not succeed. My suggestion to you is to get rid of the parasites that are bringing your company down. An that starts with management. An who ever receives this letter in the leasing offices you can discard it thinking that is won t get the VPPM (Vice President Property Manager) well your wrong.

Is SHL now called Emperian Village? I'm wondering because this is the first I've heard of this name? What happened to them knocking down these apartments? I lived in SHL from 1967 to 1979 as a child, then my parents went on to live there until 2007 when I finally got them out. I think we were one of the longest residents that ever lived there. Growing up in the 70's was nice actually and the neighborhood was fun and clean, but in the late 80's it started to go downhill. 90's was horrible and 2000's was the end. It's a shame. The whole place needs to be leveled. Could you tell me what's going on? Curious in Georgia.

I feel for you, I was as I claim " One of SHL/EV biggest supporters". That was until I recieved My lease renewal notice--I went to the office to sign and was helped by a employee who had issues-- she was rude, and said matter of factly" you know you will also be paying for gas now. I asked where in my renewal notice that was stated--- after giving me a lame excuse about the notice I recieved was from corperate and they don't know how each property runs she got very testy w/ me so I said I would not sign that day I needed to think about the new charges--- this of course was on top of a $60. increase in my rent, and the 2 new expences of insurance they require. I move out the next week. I was however forced to pay another months rent so they had their 30 days notice that I was leaving! I lost all respect for that place on that one day!

Would you happen to have any information regarding how to contact the Property Manager or VPPM? I am a resident there and in the same boat. I have been looking for a way to go over everyone's head on site but emperian management's website is not full of information. Thanks!

Emperian Village, just bunch of scumbags.......I am moving out this -------- this coming month. Since Emperian Village of MD took over these apartment complexes it seems like they unleashed the power of rudness, crappy service and ripoffs in their employees. $700 new security deposit one month rent in advance if you would like these felons to process your move to another state in one of their properties. Today I got notice that I must pay $500 per month for not renewing my lease. What in earth makes them believe that I will pay them this kind of money. I pay my rent on time (Zero) late payments and yet they want to lock me into another 12 month of this same crap if not they will evict me. There must be some regulation for these kind of companies. It will be so difficult to get legislation passed that will stop these criminals from preying on the community, because they lobby in congress fiercely so they can continue with their ripoff practices.

I Moved to Empirian village, a few months ago, I moved in on a special deal , they have now started charging me for utilities something they said was included in My rent except for about a 15.00 water bill. according to the leasing office. Now they are charging me for gas, sewer, trash, electricity. my total amount has went up about 100.00 more each month. If I had been told this up front I would have never moved here. They also had a bulletin up that if you have someone move here on your behalf that you would get 750.00 off your next month rent, that is nothing but a lie, I did that and the person that i recommended this place to was here for 2 months I never received a thing, finally I got in touch with someone who had nothing to do with that ,and that person got me 400.00 off instead of 750.00 like they had wrote up. This place has rodents and roaches I called the maint Dept, and they set up about 10 rat traps in my place , which is disgusting everytime I go to eat I have to look at that. the maint Dept stinks Instead of the employees doing there jobs ,you can spot them coming in and out of peoples home during the day while there husbands or boyfreinds are at work. Empirian village also have non professionals painting doors and doing trim work around the windows, looks like they hired a bunch of kids on drugs the way they paint ,they painted everybodys patio doors together, its just ridiculous. I will not recommend anyone moving here, this place is one of the worst places I have ever lived, I am trying to get out of here and believe me I am documenting times and dates of how long and when I reported things and how long it was to get it done. Everytime I call for something they brush you and tell you someone will get back with you shortly, right at this time thats been 3 weeks for me. I am tired of it . the only time you know they will get back to you is when you dont pay your damn rent on time, oh yeah they will call you up then talkin sh--. Do your self a favor dont move here and If someone ask you about this place tell them its filth ,unprofessional, and that they lie to you to get you in here
