SPH apts are spacious and really nice, the greenbelt area is nice too!but,it depends what section you live in I live in the back on Edmonston rd section but if you live towards the front of the property, then you in the mix of a hot ghetto mess trash everywhere people smoking weed in the hallways teenagers having sex in the laundry room Roach and Mice infestaion,I know this b/c my family lives towards the front and its terrible, where i live i have none of those problems on the property but,my problems was getting maintenance to get out and fix the things in my apt,me and my husband came one day and walked into a apt that smelled like WET DOG!,
SITUATION 1: the smell was becoming stronger so my husband cleaned out our hallway closet and found that water had been leaking from next door and it was mildew all around i was 5 months pregnant it took them 3 weeks to finally come fix the problem with a coat of paint which doesnt fix the problem just covers it up,so then i had to make calls to this person that person before i finally got to the top and they came back out and cut the wall out put up new drywall and cleaned the carpet.
SITUATION 2:im about 6 months preganant and on bedrest when the firealarm in the building is going off at least once a day for a week and i continually had to get dressed and leave my apt in the blazing hot sun.
SITUATION 3:Ive had the baby but temperatures were starting to drop outside and we had no heat,I kept calling for them to come check the heat no one cak=me within two days so i had to go stay with my mom in Mo County the heat didnt work unitil two weeks later then i returned home.
now dont get me wrong the apts are nice here but,my suggestion to anyone trying to move here is expect a hasslle dealing with maintenance and getting things fixed around it a nice place to live if you stay on top of them and make them do their jobs, another suggestion is move towards the back of the complex its quiet everyone stays to them self and no roach or mice infesation wel,at least in my building the complex is huge so its like two different worlds between the front and the back.My lease is up 01/31/09 and me and my husband will hopefully be renting a house but, rmember any apts you live in are going to have negatives none of them are perfect,im just thankful my least is up.

cal 301-345-5417 to get the city of greenbelt department of codes to comes pay a visit. they will write a work oder and give the maintenace office a certain amount of tme to fix any problems. they will then come back to re-inspect. if the work isn't done and done PROPERLY, they will be fined $3000 per incident. 2 issues equals $6000 fines. also at that time you can put your rent in escrow..meaning you Pay it to PG county courthouse and they will pay your rent only a portion if any until it's fixed. this also provides you with legal documentation from the city and the county to break your lease and not be penalized...you may even get rent money back for the length of time you have had issues. the court will investigate you maintanence call records and you can get every dime back for those months!!! pass this info to all of the residents in your building...little by little we can fix this issue if we all start hit their pockets where it hurts

I agree with Anonymous and thank you for the input. It's time to hit them in the pocket because they have hit so many people in their pockets. Congratulations on the birth of your child and I know you will find a home to rent easily in this market.

I moved to this place since December 2006 and i have had my share of problems. I can't start to list them cause it will be alot. I currently live in a one bedroom apt and hoping to move to a 2 bedroom as am expecting an additional family member. But due to the current economic situation, we can't afford a better place. I will like to know which part of this apartment is considered the back. Secondly, i will apreaciate it if i can be given a list of some nice and affordable place in PG and Mont(silver, rockville) counties. Thank you. Resident
