Good alternative to Dorm....but that's it.

I lived in University Square in my Senior year of college at Maryland and for one year after that. If you live here as an alternative to dorm-life, it's a great thing. But after you graduate...it's time to move on.
Not the safest neighborhood and cop cars are a common sight. However, conveniently located near Greenbelt Shopping Center (Safeway, Old Navy, restaurants, etc) and literally around the corner from 95 and 295 with easy access to U of Maryland and Washington DC.
Facilities are fairly old and outdated, although they do a fair job of maintaining and upgrading things. Management can be a problem and it can take quite some time to get things taken care of. Parking is also an issue. There are permits, but no assigned spots so you are lucky to get a spot near your building. However, they do a REALLY good job of towing cars without permits.
Overall, I'd say great starter apartment for people in or just out of college. Also the Den option is a great way to have another bedroom while saving money. But move on in a year or two.
