This remark is in response to the fire on 3-24-09. Management staff needs to be trained in crisis intervention and the maintenance staff needs to be trained in emergency response procedures. The entire crew needs to go starting with the resident and property mangers who did little to help the victims of this tragedy. University Square was once wonderful place to live when resident mangers cared. Local and state officials need to address the concerns of residents following this fire. As a resident, I am going to do everything in my power to bring this situation to the forefront so that others will not have to endure the wrath of this pathetic management team. SEE PHOTOS!!!

I too live in University Square Apartments. I have heard the reports from neighbors about how they are being treated after the 3-24-09 fire in their building. I am truly disgusted about the stories I have heard. Is it true that the fire was caused by workers, working for University Square? Is it true that some Tenants were not treated with the care, concern and professionalism that anyone it that position is entitle to. Can you imagine coming home to your apartment and being told that you have lost everything? Can you imagine not knowing what to do, who to talk to in a time like this (and not get any answers not any legal action that every Tenant is entitle to). This could happen to anyone of us living in this development. I heard that a furnished hotel room was not provided. I heard that after a Tenant returned from a trip, she was given a form to fill out. Our neighbors had to demand a place to live (are we all not entitled to a hotel room or another apartment when something likes this happens?), especially if the apartment complex is responsible for the fire. One Tenant would not leave the rental office until she was given an apartment. I heard that the young ladies working in the rent office (and I??????ve experienced there cold and rude responses to questions and problems) did not know nor have emergency response procedures available and this was three days after the fire. Eventually an unfurnished apartment was given to one of the tenants (with not even a bed!!! How could you!!!) I am trying to find out answer to some of my questions because this could happen to me. Maybe we should get NBC and ABC news involved in this.

I live at University Square and I find that the office personnel and maintenance staff are very helpful. Everytime I have a maintenance request it gets done exempt one request I made (nothing major) about a Vertical Blind. I WAS INFORMED THAT ONE OF THE RENTAL OFFICE LADIES ACTUALLY WENT OUT OF HER WAY TO HELP ONE OF VICTIMS FIND HIS PET CAT AFTER THE FIRE! I cannot believe (personally) that Univ. Square Staff is bad. And I was told the fire was REPORTED by maintenance NOT STARTED by a maintenance person. So if anything they helped the situation because nobody even reported. There is no one living outside of that building so obviously something was done for those people.I love my apartment, its a shame its so many rumors going around about this incident. Wow.

I understand that University Square did manage to find each person an apartment. But come on now, I don't expect a bed to be there in the apartment. I advise each and everyone who resides at Unversity Square get home insurance it's not much, compare to what you lose in cases like this. The buildings are old inside the walls etc. But with the amount of monies University Sq. is receiving, should be able to do some kind of safety inspection and replace/renovate electrial, gas pipe meaning stoves, refrigs if need be. This could prevent fires from happening.
