Let me first say I have had no problems. But take note to this - I know everyone has received a notice of break ins. University Square is experiencing alot of actitives in the U.S. area. Homes are being broken into and things are being taken. Notices that U.S. is the only apartments that do not have two locks on door only a top lock. and the balcony screen do not have a latch lock either. Maintenance can come in and out at any given time. One victim was at home sleep when someone came onto the balcony got what they wanted and left through the front door and left front door unlock. Another victim came home from work, went to put key into door, but door was unlocked, and they took what they wanted.I am not one to point fingers but that sounds like an inside job.Understand that when this was reported to rental office, person was so quick to defend the property. Maintenance has keys to enter in and out of your homes at any given time. Rental office has issues about changing locks, they are so quick to blame the occupant that occupant must have left door unlock. Well, that was not the case. Greenbelt Police was on the seen the night of August 18th in the early a.m. and the robbers came back to the scene and caught two young persons breaking into a car. So folks use caution and be safe. Someone has or has been giving keys out to our homes. Also, do not leave you extra set of keys @ home take them with you. It's a shame our neighborhood is are face with this going ons. Just be safe and try and keep an eye out for your neighbors and your neighborhood.

I have also seen the maintenance staff leave the door open many times... Particularly when they are working in the apartments overhead... (they finish the work & leave without locking)... If you complain to the maintenance staff they will agree & apologize, but for leasing office all mistakes are done by tenants!!
