When my fiance and I moved in, the carpet was filled with stains, the paint would chip and peel off of the walls and the bath tub was PAINTED with wall paint so that it would appear to be clean and white. There were termites, kids vandalizing the inside of the buildings, smoking weed and putting scratches on your vehicles. Finally after a few years we moved to VA. A few weeks later we received a letter from an attorney saying that we owed Ager Road $1,600 for things that needed to be "replaced" in the apartment. The carpet needed to be replaced (it was stained before we moved in), the bathtub needed to be reglazed (with what, wall paint''), the counter tops needed to be replaced (how do you ruin a counter top' yeah, they did need to be replaced but that was b/c they had been there for years, it was the kind of counter tops that looked like they were from the 1970's/80's), oh yeah, and the kitchen floor needed to be replaced also, which I agree, but that was b/c there was a hole in the linoleum that the maintenance man put there b/c when my refrigerator didn't work, they had to pull it out from the wall to fix it, and doing so put a whole in the floor - so I guess that's my fault too!!! What the Manager, Robert Thacker did was charge the tenant for things that were long overdue in being replaced, no it's not the tenants fault that these items needed replacing, he just doesn't want to come out of pocket to replace them - whatever happened to "wear and tear", we lived there for 5 years - GIVE ME A BREAK!!!! So in the end, wages have been garnished for the money owed PLUS the cost of attorney fees b/c the judge didn't want to hear what you have to say. If you are a victim in living in this place, my only advice and my only mistake is to take pictures of your apartment, every little stain, paint chip and crack on the wall, it could save you thousands of dollars.
