I wouldn?t recommend it

Years at this apartment: 2001 - 2004
I have lived here since 2001 and it?s gotten worse. There?s only one person in the leasing office who seems to care, but she can?t do it by herself. Maintenance (what?s that)' You have to call numerous times before they finally do something and then it?s half-way done. I won't even mention, yes I will, that we've spend a few nights with the hot water and heat not working and the temperature outside was below 32. Last year in 2003, they changed the generator in the middle of winter and we were without power on a Saturday for 9 hours. They are in the process or repiping the kitchens and bathrooms because the water when you went to take a bath was a muddy brown at times.
Supposedly, they are making changes, but it?s tiring to see the trash area outside unemptied for days. Turnover seems to be daily with tenants.
One reviewer mentioned roaches -- yes, this is the only apartment complex that can?t get rid of those pests. I believe they use the cheapest materials to try and get rid of them and it simply doesn?t work.
Kitchens and bathrooms way too small. The cabinets are falling apart in the kitchen and needs to be replaced.
They need to have a place for children/teenagers to congregate because they take up the lobby, stairwells and hallways and it?s a nuisance.
The pluses -- distance to my job and daycare is 15-20 minutes, the square footage and I can afford it. However, I hope to move soon unless it gets better. They have just revamped the elevators (3 of them), so that?s a plus (I guess). They are also redoing the leasing office (which is good for them), but they really need to renovate the residents? apartments.
I can?t comment on parking because I have a reserved space. The spaces marked for visitors are taken by the residents and visitors have to go up the hill behind the complex, which is a pain. Not all reserved spaces are taken, but residents park there at risk, but nothing is done to tow those violators and the paying residents are upset.
Unless there?s more visible changes, I wouldn?t recommend it.
