Hamilton Manor seemed like a great place to me before I actually moved in. The neighborhood isn't great, but it's safer than most in this area. The apartments and grounds look nice and well-kept.
But on my first day here, I noticed a major roach problem in my apartment. I called maintainence and was told someone would come in two weeks. It took me 4 or 5 more calls to get them to send someone sooner. Even when the exterminator did come twice, the roaches didn't go away or get any better. I finally discovered boric acid (can be bought at a hardware store, highly recommended for other people with roach problems). The boric acid made the problem better, but it has never completely gone away and never because of anything the management did.
In addition, the management is rude and difficult to deal with. I was given two mailbox keys instead of a mail key and a laundry room key by the office assistant, Mila, so when I tried to use the laundry room, my key broke off in the door. Despite the fact this complex promises 24 hour emergency maintenance, it took forever to get someone to come and then I was charged for the repair. It was because of the management's incompetence that I had the wrong key, but I had to pay for their mistake. On another time, the maintenence man came to repair my shower and sprayed disgusting brown and green stuff all over my bathroom, but didn't clean anything up. I had to call him back and even then he only partially cleaned the area. They will also lie to you or omit information. For example, I wasn't told that tenants have no control of their heat or air conditioning. I was also told that my apartment was "internet ready," only to find out there was no phone jack!
I have lived in a number of apartments and this one is definitely the worst. I will be moving out as soon as my lease is up.
