This complex is in a very good location, and it is only a three minute walk to the metro station. There are three major food chains in walking distance, parking's a plenty...But this is a third world complex! The hallways are always full of people smoking, drinking, and just hanging out. The front porches/stairs always have guys hanging out on them.
There was a one bedroom apartment below me that had 14 people living in it. Mice run through the building year round. Roaches aren't as bad as they once were, but a lot of the third world residents have claimed the hallway as a dining room, so you have to keep towels around the door to keep vermin and bugs from walking under the door. If you are sensitive to tobacco smoke don't live here. The building is old and the apartment doors dont get a good tight seal, so hallway smoke is always in your apartment. The latest management is really trying to change things, but I think the bad seed is too dug in. Service calls for maintenance are good. The office response quick,but they are too little too late. Crime has been a problem at times. It seems to come in waves when there are auto break-ins, robberies,thefts,ect then quiet for a season. Most of the renters speak Spanish, or are from an ------- or West Indies nation. The grounds are ok, very neat and flowered near the rental office, grass is mowed once a week. In my area near the last third if the complex there are dozens of beer cans, bottles food containers, and so forth on the ground every night. Ground crews pick it up every morning ,but it just looks bad if you are bringing in company. Security cameras would reaaly cut down on the loitering. The buildings have locked entries that are always jammed with pennies or just broken. There is a laundry room for every other building,12 units to a building. yeah I know! Forget about weekend laundering! Heat is from a radiator,very warm. AC is provided for one room(living room). If you get one for the bedroom, and it's needed, they charge you an electricity surcharge of $75/mo. The electrcity is included in the rent. This complex is for first time renters,"new to the country" residents, or divorced dad's that need a place to start over that's close to public transportation and shops.
