I lived in Parker House Apartments for 1 year and that was one year too long. I am trying to save some of you people who are thinking about moving here when they change these dumps over to condos. Here are the problems:
a. there is a bad, ROACH PROBLEM. Especially during the warmer months. During the day you may see a few but when the sun goes down they run all through your apartment. Hundreds in the kitchen and bathroom. I always wore shoes in fear I would step on one of them.
b. There is a bad MICE PROBLEM.
I lived on the ground floor and I constantly would see mice run under the kitchen stove when I went to the kitchen for a midnight snack. You can hear them in the walls.
c. FLOODING
Whenever there was a bad storm I would have flooding in my apartment.
d. WATER SHUT OFF.
There were periods where the water was shut off for no reason, some times for minutes...sometimes for hours.
e. CAR BREAK-INS
Go around there at night. Its quiet but look at all the cars in the parking lot. They all have clubs, because car theft and break-in are common. In one year my car was broken into 3 times and the plates were stolen twice and I had a 1990 Oldsmobile.
f. I have never heard the residents on the 3rd and 4th floor complain about flooding or mice, just ground level and basement floors. Everyone complains about the other problems though. The roaches are everywhere, and I do mean everywhere so if you dont want to live with them them dont buy here.
g. COMMENTS
I still have friends that live over there. My old neighbor said residents could've bought thier unit for a discount price but almost all the residents said no because they dont want to inherit the problems.
Dont take my word for it just knock on a few doors when you go check it out....talk to the residents, they will confirm everything I said. Ask the sales people about these problems and what are they gonna do to fix them before you decide to buy. If it is just a cosmetic (face change) renovation DO NOT BUY!
