First 6 months, still happy here

Years at this apartment: 2008 - 2008
We've had a few problems (windows, plumbing, electricity) but the staff always fixed it in due time, some even live on the property. The AC worked in the summer and the heat is working fine now that it's winter, but I still had to get a space heater for the bedroom due to uneven heating. The old thermostat is a pain, I wish we had a digital one you could program to turn on and off at set times, but it works. The grounds/neighborhood isn't noisy but unfortunately my upstairs neighbors seem to be very noisy - it sounds like Godzilla stomping around up there all the time.
The management allows cats and ferrets, I have a cat and pay only $10 extra per month but I also paid a non-refundable fee of under $100, not bad. Although we apartment dwellers can't have dogs, those who live in the houses in the nighborhood surrounding the property have dogs, and they will walk them through and leave the poop lying around all the time. Also, droves of kids are wandering through the neighborhood all the time, but the only hot item, according to my neighbors, are bikes - keep them locked.
You can easily walk to the library, right next to the management office (I wish they had better hours) and easily drive to supermarkets and plenty of shopping. However, they are starting a lot of construction projects. It is worthwhile to study the backroads and know your way around the county to avoid traffic.
Overall, I'm still happy with this place but there are some things I should point out. The price is cheap, and the location is superb, right near the water, and they have a bulkhead, but they don't have their own ramp (public one down the road). They have parking for boats/trailers but it is always left unlocked. There is "ample" parking for cars spread out over the property but no assigned spaces near your place, so you will face an annoying walk across the parking lot if you work late (the only consolation is that the land is all flat). They have two decals and one guest tag per apartment for the night watchman to check against his list, but I'm not sure how often he checks, I still haven't met him. The grounds are very spacious and well-groomed, and lit well enough, but the surrounding neighborhood is not well lit at night. Other concerns are that the apartments have old locks, no alarm system, no sprinklers, only one smoke detector comes with it, and there is no lock for the stairwell outside door (but at least the mailboxes are inside there).
NOTE: There is a huge contruction project going on near the church at the entrance to the property. mgFDbN4-dhkSMZ7zRmVH
