I have lived at Camden Summerfield for two (2) years now, so I would consider myself an expert in writing this review. When I first moved here I rented a 1 bedroom, 1 bath apartment home that was considered "upgraded" with stainless steel appliances, and hardwood floors throughout on the first floor. My rent was $1421.00, Electric bill in the summer was about ($125-$150) for an adamant traveller who was barely home, and in the winter my electric bill went up to $300-500 a month. Ridiculous, the month of November, I was deployed to do an assignment in Thailand, and was gone from October 30-November 26th, and my electric bill for that month was $586.00. There is a 30$ Valet Waste charge (monthly), where a team comes around and picks up your trash daily from your door-step. This should be an option not a requirement, but there is no way you can get the fee waived. At the same time Camden is "going green" but they have someone emptying your trash daily, wasting trash bags that are half full, trying to get your monies worth. There isn't even trash pick up on the weekends, when most people clean up. I have arrived at home many times between the hours of 6-8, and have seen maybe 2 trashcans outside to be emptied. No one NEEDS this service. Additionally, they bill your BASIC Comcast cable through your lease for $44.00, the triple play costs less than that, and you get more channels! There has been a representative from Comcast at my house every month at least once a month to repair my service line because my phone and internet is constantly going out, for satellite issues, services interoperability, etc. I prefer Verizon, but cant get it because they have it built into my lease. This is supposed to be a secured building, but the gates are ALWAYS broken, people have had their rims stolen, and cars broken into. Whenever I have a guest, I need to know ahead of time, because once the leasing office is closed there is NO getting an additional parking pass. The line to my apartment for guests to let me in did not work for a whole year, I had to physically walk out and let them in. My key card was deactivated several times because "it was in my purse next to my phone or camera." The seal at the bottom of my door was not sealed, a frog was able to slide under and was looking at me the next morning. I never had any problems with roaches or mice. Parking is what it is. Sometimes I get something close to the door, other times i have to park on another floor. When I first moved here I was one of two people on my floor, and the first person to live in my apartment it was very quiet and cozy. This year so many people have moved in! I can hear my neighbors getting nasty, I live closest to the entrance/exit, so I hear every car come through the garage with different music or loud motors all times of the night. The people that live above me get up every morning at 5:15 am, I hear their alarm go off, and the shower running. I have a two bedroom now for $1875, and it is not upgraded. There were roaches and spiders when I moved in. A lot of dead fruit flies, hand-prints all over all the walls, the worst! I have no idea why I renewed my lease and upgraded to a 2 bedroom, probably because I hate moving, and the thought of looking and packing makes me a little sick. The water fee fluctuates, and goes by the sq. ft. So if someone upstairs uses up 5 gallons, and has a 1 bedroom, you will pay majority of the cost if you have a 2 bedroom. The best thing about this complex is the Metro, when I first moved here I was told that we would have direct access soon, within the next few months. 2 years later they are just finishing up construction, that took all of 2 months. No one sent out a notice to explain that there would be construction all around us. On game day when the Redskins play home, you have to leave your apartment well in advanced, and plan to return well after or somewhere in the middle, because the county has no regard for the people that live on this street, so they make it a one way in the opposite direction, and give us one lane to squeeze through all the traffic and pedestrians. It is really not wort the money to live here. They look nice and are very convienet to the metro, but other than that they dont have anything going for them. Z'Quiyah is the nicest person in the office, and upper management always has her working, while they are out doing whatever (I have never seen the manager Meridith).
