Don't do it!!!

I thought it was just me but after reading the other reviews, I know that I am not alone. I should have headed the initial signs of what was to come prior to moving in. First of all, I wanted a particular 2-BDR floorplan so since none were available when I first inquired, I was told they would place me on the "VIP" list so once I was ready and they had the model available, I could move in. So arrangements were made in October to move-in December 1st. I call the day before I was to go get my keys and they had no clue of who I was and then when I arrived, the apartment I was taken to was the wrong model. It was infested with roaches, cigar/blunt litter in the window sills and maintenance workers scrambling to put up some dirty venetian blinds to cover up the broken window. I set off several bombs beofre moving my stuff in and just left for the night. Upon returning the morning, I requested to have my money returned to me or given another unit not overrun w/roaches. The staff acted as if they were bewildered and said it was due to the fact that not all of the tenants are clean and tidy. Anyway, the hot water system needs to be updated, I have to let my water run for at least 15 minutes to get it hot enough to take a shower (the hot water heater is about 3or 4 buildings away). Don't even mention the secured building ameninites, since the doors were replaced almost two years ago and still the locks have yet to be installed. We've gotten new building awnings and trash can areas but I just want the locks on my door. And yes, the rent continues to increase at least $30 per year. One positive thing is that the 24hr maintenance team is responsive even if they don't know how to fix the problem. Everything runs off of electricity and the heating/ac unit is sooo ancient that you'd think you were stuck in the 80s. One of the attractions of the community is the distance from everything and the small buildings (4 units in my building). I must say that my building is not roach infested which I believe is due to the fact that the other tenants are older couples who've been there for years. I don't recommend Kent Village because of the lack of responsiveness from the management (and Southern Management's corporate offices)regarding tasks that they deem insignificant. If I hear one more time that everything is a process, since our complex is so large, I'll scream. BuLYzGcKAVo8MQPlcXJq
