I have been at Kent Village 4 years too long in a 1 bedroom apartment. I moved in as a college student in dire need of a place near the Metro--which is falsely advertised as one block away! Now, 4 years later, I am asking myself why I am continuing to endure this mess--of course, to save money for a home! Anyway, the apartments are old, and a total health hazard. I have read the other reviews and the following items are things that I can attest to: mold problem, dust problem, rust problem particularly on blinds in bathroom, poor insulation (cracked plaster througout--particularly around windows), noisy/squeaky floors, terribly thin walls (can hear people snoring beneath me, girl crying above me, children playing outside when windows/blinds are closed), poor parking design (plenty of dings in car made by others), ill-mannered children running around w/out parents (especially in the summer late at night), etc. The list goes on. It is definitely the ghetto. So many times I walk home from the bus stop and see drug baggies on the ground. In fact, there is a regular crack-head lady who paces the area between Kent Village and Checkers. The laundry facilities are terrible with small and few washers and dryers that almost always mess up some clothing. Also, there are too many people per laundry facility, and the facilities are outside (unless you have a townhouse). In conclusion, if you are in need of a place just for the time being this may be it, but avoid if you can--not to mention serious crimes being committed throughout the property including murders at the crab shack right at the entrance to the apartments/townhouses. This may be an ideal place for you if you prefer 5 liquor stores within 2.5 blocks of each other--with drive-thru windows (hint the sarcasm!)
