Apts old, need renovations

I am in a one bedroom bottom floor apt. The apartments are in much need of renovations which will probably raise the rent. My building is a good building. There are no kids hanging in or infront of my building. There is no loud music in my building. I don't get the noise from the parking lot because my apt. is on the back of the building. I cannot hear peoples conversation in the surrounding apartments. The building stays clean. They keep the property fairly clean in my court. One problem I do have is the mold problem. The buildings are old and stay moist. When this happens I call maitenance and they come out and claim they treat the mold but basically paint over it. I keep houshold cleaners for mold to keep it down. My fridge was older than I want but it is frost free so its not that bad. My stove was new. The heat and a/c units are old. Everything is electric in the apartment which results in a high electric bill. Another problem they are having a very high spike in is car thefts and break-ins which can happen anywhere. But a lot of the thefts in my court was done by high school male residents living there. They have evicted the perpetrator and so far its been quiet. Resident services staff are responsive to my needs. Their response to maintenance calls are normally handled in a day. The electric seems to go out more often on my side of the court during storms than the other side. I do not have roaches. I have been there for almost 2 years. I bombed when I first moved in and that is it. The exterminator has been only once when the entire building was being exterminated. I guess the people in my building are clean and we all work. My building is quite. No loud music or kids hanging in or in front of the building. The buildings are secured. There is no one constantly banging on the doors since they are locked. There is a Prince George's Police sub center on the property and they patrol my court quite frequently during the day but unfortunately its a night when we need them. I am more alert now. The apartments are not bad but the area being surround with liquor stores, and rent being reasonable these are the type of concerns you will have living here. One good thing is if your credit is not great they have a credit program to help you get in. Your security deposit may be one months rent but they will work with you.
