This is a community governed by the government to help those who really need the help afford something nice. Dont hate on those less fortunate who the program was set in place for. All everyone wants to do is complain about what they cant get be greatful for what you have. It sounds like you are well on your way to a great job that will pay you more so therefore you can afford something nice. If you cant you need to cut something out of your budget.

My problem is yes, that guy has or will have a good job but he won't be able to afford something as nice as these apartments. Why is it that the "less fortunate" get to live better then the people busting their butt and working and trying to do the right thing?

These aptments are for moderate income. If your income is too low you can't get in either (I tried and I didn't make enough). I think its a great program if you qualify. I don't understand why everyone is so mad. These are not the only apts in city. If you feel like you do 1.become more active with politics and petition for more programs that will benefit you. Instead of sitting around complaining because government only helps the people who really need help. And if you think the less fortunate is living better than you (check yourself), You have no idea. Everyone is entitled to have something nice not just the more fortunate. You have no idea the less fortunate bust their butts too. You arnt God you don't decide who gets something nice and who doesn't. Maybe that's why you don't have anything nice. Please change your thinking.

Wow, I cannot believe anon07's comment. How ignorant are you? You really feel that "less fortunate" people get to live better because of ONE program helping them out? And what the makes you think that "less fortunate" people don't bust their butts and work. They most likely have to work harder than you just to make ends meet! It's not like the apartments are reserved for people without jobs. You sound like the most idiotic and selfish person I've ever heard. I haven't even applied to Overland Gardens yet and probably won't qualify because I make too much, but your comments were so ignorant that I could not help but to respond. Grow up and stop complaining. You're upset because you've gotten told "no" at one apartment complex? How do you think the "less fortunate" feel being told "no" 95% of the time?! Excuse me, but someone raising children on a lower income and still attempting to provide them with a safe environment IS doing "the right thing". Or do you think that right is only reserved for the more fortunate? It's people like you who are the reason we still have people that are homeless and dying of starvation in the richest country in the world.

well, i dont know what or who constitutes as a "less fortunate person", because i am a single parent with two kids who makes a pretty damn good income and i qualified, i am not on welfare or in low income bracket, i don't even qualify or EIC on tax returns, so before people make assumptions about who lives here, come in an fill out an application and find out just what is going on!!

The staff changes in the office are ridiculous. You may submit paperwork to one person one day, and the next day a new face is working in the office. Then your paperwork with all of your personal and confidential information can't be found. The staff looks ghetto too, and really do not care about you are your concerns. It is probably because where they live is awful, and they are jealous you live here and they don't. The workout equipment is dusty and not maintained. Some of the equipment is broken. Kids go in there and jump around on exercise equipment and break them, no monitoring. Security doors are broken that lead into aparments by tenants and/or their visitors. Get this, the security doors are magnetized and should be secured with a lock and one key for the tenants who are on the lease. If they lose the key, make them pay. They should secure with locks of keys that cannot be copied. Also, some tenants are too lazy to take their garbage to the garbage dumpsters, they leave their funky garbage in front of the apartment building. They have cameras everywhere, but no one appears to be monitoring what is going on. During school and work hours there are grown teenagers roaming the complexes doing drugs, going in and out of buildings that have broken security doors. With God's help I hope to be out of here by 2009 to hopefully own a place to live, please pray for me and my family.
