My Grandmother and I have lived here for 20 some odd years and these apartments are absolutely ATROCIOUS!! Just NASTY! The hallways looked like someone has poo'ed in them all the time. There are always children...ELEMENTARY SCHOOL AGE BABIES running around in the MIDDLE of the street up until 10 o'clock at night and sometimes later. The property looks like Trash. People literally just toss stuff in the street and not think twice about how it may affect the outer appearance of what they will call home.

The hallways are always loud. They shoot around there all the time. The drug trafficking through there is ridiculous! You will have two and three crackheads and prostitutes living right next door to you. The crime rate and drug rate here is not worth it. I have watched my highschool mates die one after another in this neighborhood. I had a neighbor who was HIV positive and a crack head and she was a prostitute. These are the kinds of people who frequent this area and call it home. If you have children I beg you to stay as far away from this place as possible. There is so much teenage sex, drugs, prostitution, killing and ignorance in this area I wonder if they are a world of their own. It's unreal how horrible things are over there. If you can afford better...please find it!!!

I think this says something about you if you have lived there for over 20 years. Low income housing is to help you get on your feet not to retire from the community. You should have saved enough now to buy your own home.

Maybe her grandmother is on a fix income raising her granddaughter the best that she can. Not all are able to or dream of owning a new home. Some people here are living on fix income because of illness, disability etc... in addition, I am speaking for hard working people who ended up injured and now find their circumstance in life changed. Some young mothers will go to school but leave the babies for grandparents to take care something that some seniors did not plan for. Some young people hang with the wrong crowd being shot and killed. These poor children end up with grandparents taken them in on fix incomes circumstance has not allowed them to move up as fast. Some people work low wage jobs and they have families and this place is all they can afford. Please stop judging everyone who has live here longer then you think they should. When people move into homes they cannot afford and drive cars they cannot afford and end up losing everything their circumstance change too and they may have start over and may never reach their status in life again. However, I have seen some working class educated people children doing whatever they want to do, drugs, gang, shooting, killing, selling drugs, murdered... Section 8 has nothing to do with how you live. Section 8 is there to help low-income people, people on fixed income and the elderly. How many people clean themselves up after years of slumming? For years they were living without no morals, no pride, self-respected. How many let their children see them do anything and everything. Perform out in public with you boyfriends and cussing your kids out. Some lock the younger children out until you get home from work leaving them to take care of themselves on complex they get out at two o??clock you not home until six o??clock. After doing all that you go to college, get educated and wonder whets wrong with your kids. Will the way the parent raised that child and what that person expose that child to have effect on the child??s behavior or how damn long you live on section 8???? How many of those teenagers growing up in Glenarden watch their mothers and fathers sitting out hanging and drinking and cussing half the night and dealing drugs and pissing in the hallways. A person being just nasty or living a nasty life does not have anything to do with section 8 or how long a person has been there. Low-income housing is part of a community. We treat it like is not part of anything and we treat the people like they feel shame if they are not able live beyond poor.
