The problem is the tenants..

I lived in this complex for more than two years, and have recently moved out. I can't really say it's a bad place: Maintenance, as many people have mentioned, is very prompt and professional. The management is generally proficient, but they have some weird practices.(They hang a large, yellow sign that says "LATE" in bold letters on your door even if only 50 cents is missing from your rent) The rent is very reasonable considering the cost of living in this area.
Unfortunately the tenants are a different story altogether. If you are considering moving to Woodland Landing and don't have a taste for predominantly --------American musical fare like rap and hip-hop, I suggest you try getting used to it: You will be hearing LOTS of it. Sound insulation is very poor and everybody in the block seems to have gigantic subwoofers, and the rap music broadcast started as early as 6AM in our building. A spoiled brat (in my opinion the poster boy of what Bill Cosby has been talking about) in our apartment building bought one of those Chinese "pocket bikes" and started riding it in the complex all Saturday: the incredible whine of this bike was the primary reason I moved out. My Wall Street Journal subscription was promptly stolen from the building's front door every morning until I had to cancel it. The low price also attracted some charities like the Arc of DC, which houses mentally ill people. Not that there is anything wrong with this noble charity, but unfortunately they rented an apartment across my building which housed a deranged old man who shrieked and cried uncontrollably until 2AM. He still lives there, so stay away from buildings 9915, 9917, and 9921.
It may sound as if I am making this all up, but I assure you I am not. The tenants are unfortunately AWFUL people, and the management quite honestly does not care. I still recommend Woodland Landing as a reasonably priced housing alternative until you have the financial means to move to a place with better people around. The place is safe, relatively clean and the maintenance people really work hard; but unfortunately the "miniature ghetto" atmosphere detracts from the overall Woodland Landing experience. Good luck living in Woodland Landing, and don't forget to stock up on those 50 Cent and Snoop Dogg CDs, because you will need to start tolerating that kind of music. Fo' shizzle, yo!

You sound like an intolerant azzhole with your glib remarks about the undesirables and their choice of music. Would it be better if they were blasting Sting or the Rolling Stones? It's an apartment building, David Duke Jr., not some exclusive country club. If you have a problem living with a variety of people, then you need to move your judgemental azz to a gated community with your kind of people.

I don't think he is intolerant just a person who wants there peace. I mean jeez im black and you get tired of the sterotypical apathtures of the black culture. I mean the place's rent is resonable and the tenants seem to ruin the atmosphere by bringing their ghetto MTV-pop rap mentalities. It comes a point in time when we should enough with the loud music i dont mind it on off hours like sat and sunday after noon but not at 6am! This guy is right some ppl are just ignorant and disrespectful.
