Stay Away! Everything Here Is True, and More!

I moved here a month ago when I was starting a new job, and didn't have much time to look for anything. Now I'm one month into a 15 month lease and am trying to find a way out. I dread coming home each day. Why'
Simple. The facilities and apartments are decent, but the people here make this hell on earth.
1)Parking here is no-holds barred, and everyone has a 'I was here first' mentality. I pay $25/month for the spot in front of my apartment, yet someone else parks there, then yelled at me because he 'usually parks there' because he doesn't want his car scratched if he parks it near his apartment. Last week, a man speeding through the parking lot hit a woman as she was walking by her apartment.
2)There are no elevators, so since I am partially disabled and was moving my own things, I had to take a first floor apartment. I can hear every footstep the upstairs neighbors make...especially when their children run up and down the stairs. Their TV is right over my bedroom...some nights I am up until 2AM because they are watching TV.
3)Security here is nonexistant. I pay $15/month for an alarm that has never been turned on. The gate is a joke; it's either broken, or people who don't live here wait by the curb until someone with a passcard goes in, then they follow them in.
4)The children that live in this complex are terrible. When school's not in, they walk around in packs, screaming, cursing and--I see from the comments this hasn't changed--playing football and hitting cars. I don't go to the pool after the first few times, as it's always crowded with cursing, fighting, screaming kids. I've nearly been run over 3 times already on the sidewalk by one of them skateboarding as I was walking home from work. Every other word out of their mouths is '---' or 'f**k', they get in physical fights and terrorize each other. They're outside my porch as I type, yelling at each other and hitting cars with that d@mn football.
5) Noise & upkeep. If it's not the screaming kids, it's someone playing electric piano all day. If it's not that, it's rap music in the parking lot. I've had a car alarm going off outside my apartment from 4AM until 7:30 AM, when I gave up and went to work on my day off just for some peace and quiet. The dumpster fills up everyday, and sometimes overflows, people will just dump trash everywhere. The inner hallways of the buildings are stained, trash-strewn, and smell.
6) Neighborhood. The metro being within walking distance is the only plus about this place. The shopper's across the street is a health code violation waiting to happen, and the service at the local businesses are terrible; I drive elsewhere to do my shopping. I hear sirens every few hours; every Saturday afternoon there are motorcycle street races down Arena Drive (speeding, running lights, etc).
Positives: I had no problems with moving in and applying; I needed housing fast and I got it. The apartment was in great shape, clean, and I'm happy with everything inside the walls. David and Khrystal, they property managers at the office, are very nice and always willing to help (when I see them). I feel somewhat sorry for them, because they're in charge of a monkey house, it seems.
I pay almost $1500/month for this place, and it's beginning to feel like a prison. For what I put up with, I may as well be paying $800/month a few miles away. It looks nice on the outside, and you can't beat it for accessiblility and convenience, but the residents here make this place a hellish ghetto. Stay away!!!!!!!!

I feel sorry for you. I lived there in 2002 and the gate was always broken then. Somebody was always doing something they didn't have any business and the dumpsters were always filled to the brim. I wish I would have know you because I had a condo I was trying to rent out for $1,400 which is right up the street across from the metro and the area is a little better than where you are now. Unfortunately my father is living in it now. Keep your eyes and ears open and try to get out of your lease!

I moved into Camden a little while ago and my alarm has not worked either... when we moved in the place had dead bugs all over the floor, screens had holes in them, washer didnt work, disposal still doesnt work, and patio had wasps. I'm over near the lower gate, kids are nice over on this side and respectful of people's property and cars. Although Khrystal couldnt get our pass cards to work properly, forgot paperwork, David stepped right in. She was really nice at first, but when we did our walk through and noticed all the problems she said "I don't care thats not my problem, thats going to the manager and to the maintenance men." The maintenance men are a joke! The manager is also! I had to send an e-mail to him and his supervisor to get any work done in this place, then the maintenance guy had an atittude, and left the screens by my door for ME to put in!! If you need something done, I suggest doing it yourself and submitting a bill to the office!

This is the only way I know to communicate with anyone living here, and I work during the time the front office is open, I'm probably going to be late to work to try to get in there tomorrow and figure this out. Does anyone know why we were charged over $20 in extra fees? Water, Sewer charge? I pay my water, and it's not through Camden! Cubs Mgmt Fees? What IS this???? Trash CHarge? They're already charging me $30 for valet trash I don't use!!!! It can't be to pick up the trash all over the complex; the same nasty used rubber glove has been sitting near my building for 3 days. Anyone know what these charges are for?
P.S. I still hate this place. Only 11 more months to go...*sigh*
