Mixed Feelings

I've visited Northampton on several different occassions and it seems to be a pretty quiet neighborhood. The location is great, however I'm hearing so many mixed reviews about the community. The staff was super nice on every one of my visits. I viewed a 2 bdrm traditional (which is larger than the contemporary) and I liked the layout. The bathrooms and kitchens were nice. The bedrooms could have been a little larger. The rent is affordable (for the Largo area), however residents are responsible for paying water, electric, and gas.

The community was a part of my top 5, however I am not so sure after all of the horror stories. Everyone can't be wrong. I think I'll continue apt shopping, and keep Northampton in the back of my mind in case I don't find anything better.

Just a thought....most people only post the bad on here (i mean seriuosly, who wants to write about good experinces...its more fun to read/write the bad reviews) If you can, ask the people that live there...just walk around, check out the place and ask around...you may even make some friends! Thats what I did when I moved here 3 years ago. There are several negatives things about here, but positive too. Go with your gut.

Oh and talk to the residents and ask them too. The staff anywhere is going to try to sell you as much as they can, but their bottom line is comission and to make bank at the end of the day, not your interests, unless its a good company of course.

I lived there and wrote a review about how aweful it was. I was being nice. Really. Anyways, I can recommend a GREAT community nearby, it's Ivy Club Apartments and it's right next to the stadium. Give them a try, I was soooo happy with my experience there. Good luck!

I live here now and can't wait to move. Yes, the walls, floors, & ceiling are paper thin and you can hear everything. On a good note...mgmt tries to fix your issues but what is beyond repair receives only a bandage not surgery. I have had a horrible roach problem since moving in. I've had them spray 4-5 times in 3 months and I've paid for professional services too. I am an extremly clean person and have never had roaches in my 50 years of life so it's not from me. They have also sprayed my neighbors to no avail. The issue is within the walls which would require they tent the whole row of buildings to treat and I've asked for this. Doubt that will ever happen though so I must break my lease and move. I just can't live with roaches. The washer is another issue. Anytime you have to pull a washer out of its space to be able to get clothes in or out because it sits under a shelf, is unacceptable. The accomodations, compared to cost with others, is no savings. Once you add in the utilities and unacceptable roach condition, you're actually paying more for less. This is not living.

I fell in love with this place at first sight before I moved in, but now, I have many, many regrets. Honestly, every place has its flaws, but this one has all! Yes the staff can be extremly friendly at times, and yes the neighbors are a peach, but constantly stepping in dog poo, an enormous amount of maintenance calls, falling cabinets, stopped up tubs, garbage disposals that stop working when they want too, and not to mention the traditional apartments which are afordable on paper, but after you get that $2-300.00 gas bill because the traditional doesn't come with insulation, so the maintenance man said, you would be just as heated as I am...unless your in my COLD apartment!

Wow! I want to thank all of you for your comments on Northampton Apartments. I have spoken to previous residents of this community and they have all assured me of the many problems I will encounter if I decided to make Northampton my new home. I have excluded them off of my list and I will no longer be taking them into consideration. Thank you all again and you guys have been a great help.

My only problem was the management. I hated the thought of having to call them. I lived two buildings down from the leasing office which was ideal. I currently live in the Arbors at Arundel Preserve and absolutely LOVE everything about the community aside from the dog poop. I don't know if that's too far but it may be worth your consideration!!
