I moved into the Ashleys from a great apartment in Northern Virginia in April of 2007. I am very hard to impress, but I can honestly say that I am very impressed by my living experiences thus far. Here are the facts that I have EXPERIENCED:
1. Every maintenance request I've made was addressed, if not taken care of the very same day. They were definitely COMPLETED by the second.
2. The office staff has been nothing but professional and caring EVERYTIME I've called or visited the office. Eric, David, Chelsea, etc..
3. The grounds are kept up on a daily basis. They look great.
4. In my opinion, the cement structure DOES work. My right hand to God, I haven't heard my neighbors on the right side of me. The neighbors on the left, I faintly hear a TV, but that is very RARE. The buildings are constructed well.
5. Even though I get off work early (2:30pm), I have also come in late, and yes, the parking can get crowded but then again, I have never had to walk more than a few buildings down to get to my apartment.
6. The grounds are safe. I've taken walks at night. There are not any loiters and such.
7. The lady apartment manager has been nothing but courteous and helpful EVERYTIME I've called for assistance.
8. Upon moving in the condition of my apartment was GOOD.
9. I've never seen a MOUSE. I've seen a bug or two, but nothing for concern.
10. The air conditioning has been on BLAST everyday this summer, and the heat worked fine when I got here (at the end of March beginning of April, it's cold outside)..what are people talkin' about' lol.

I honestly have no complaints. I ususally have pros and cons, but not this time. I have rented from quite a few places over the last couple of years. I would recommend this place to members of my own family. Maybe it's because I have an apartment on the 3rd floor - with a great view of trees and such, or maybe I've dealt with the office staff when they were in great moods, or maybe it's just my experience - for all utilities included, spacious aprtments, washer and dryer included, dishwasher, pets allowed, etc.. In MY opinion - The Ashley's may be Laurel's best kept secret.

You must be the one person at the Ashley, more likely than not, you are someone in that poorly run leasing office that is satisfied here. There are kids who hang out with drugs, guns and so forth in the parking lot, on the baskeball court, in the stairwells, etc. The dumpsters are often over-run with garbage and all over the grounds. Take a look at the parking lot during the weekends and look at the enormous amount of trash littering it. If you are receiving prompt service from maintenance, then good for you. This place is also over-run with section 8 tenants. There is also dog feces all over the place, where pet owners neglect to curb their pets. I am in the military and will continue to advise my peers to seek residence elsewhere. This place is not whta it seems!

To the above poster I'm sad that you have experienced those things. I've been here since June 07 and I've never seen or heard of anything the things that you speak of. I wonder if it depends on where you live at within the community. I live in the front and I've never had problems with kids, noise, parking or maintenance. The tenants that leave in my building are very quiet and nice people.
