I moved to the AVONDALE early in 2007 and left the end of the same year. During my time there I HAD NOTHING BUT PROBLEMS WITH THE OFFICE STAFF. The WRIT Company that owns the Avondale is a disgusting, money seeking company with NO EMPHASIS on people or customer service. The apartments are too small for what they are charging. For starters the apartment had so many things wrong with it. A woman commited Suicide on the second floor during the summer of 2007. The building has a very eerie feeling as though someone is watching you. I was not the only person that felt that way. There were over 65 vacant apartments when I left there the end of 2007. Never was I late with my rent and my checks never bounced. My apartment was spotlessly clean and I never blasted my Television or Stereo. I found out the reason for the eerie feeling. THE LAUREL SANITARIUM WAS ON THE SAME SPOT!! It was more of an insane asylum from what I discovered. Do not move there you very will be very sorry!!!! I am not a former employee nor do I have any relatives working there. From what I found out from other residents is a young man that shot himself in the head on the fourth floor. This was not revealed to me until I moved in. Also, the building has a horrible odor. I could not get out of that place fast enough. There is only one security officer that does his job correctly. The others are worthless!!

i was very surprised to read your comment..i moved in a few months ago and i absolutely love my little apartment.yes it's small ,but its cute,quiet,reasonable rent(for me i pay less than $900.)yes the heating kinda sucks but it's really not that bad just turn the heat up.i personally dont plan on moving until i buy a house.the washer and dryers on my floor are fine(also we have working elevators just go to another floor,its not that hard).fitness eqipment may be a little dated but at least we have a fitness room which saves me money for gym memberships.why would you have problems with management?if you pay rent on time there shouldn't be any problems.the eerie feeling...lol..im not going to comment anymore on the paranoia.The new staff is kinda cold(those two new women who dont speak to the residents )...but the old employees are nice.furthermore no bugs,no mice.honestly anyone who is looking for a quiet,classy place to live and is not paranoid and remebers this is an apartment and you have to make the best of a good situation you should really come take a look...happy apartment hunting : )

I have to agree with lovelynicole04 comments I have been here for a year, I find this apartment community a very nice and welcome change from where I use to live. The apartment itself is nice with the black appliances and the mirrors on the doors which I just love. As far as the staff is concern I have nothing but good things to say about them, there always friendly to me, the night desk person always has a smile on his face when I come down to pick up my packages. As for the fitness center the equipment maybe outdated but I hear they are going to be redoing the fitness center in a couple of months and all the equipment going to be brand new, not to mention I love the fact that we have a sauna which I use periodically. To me the avondale is nothing but class and it's only getting better especially since they started have activities in the clubroom and a yoga instructor that comes on Saturday to teach.

I have lived at the Avondale since 2005 and I really like the highrise living. The apts are small for what you pay but the rent is managable. I agree with the comments about the washer and dryers. How many times doe a washer and dryer have to break down before you just replace it. Yes there are washer and dryers on each floor but there have been times when the washer was broken on my floor and two other floors so I spent way too much time going to each floor looking for a workable one. The new equip in the gym is great. The staff, hummm...Clarence is great, very helpful and doesnt act like you are bothering him. The new lady that is there seems nice, the manager leaves a lot to be desired. That is my personal experience...I dont like to be given the run around about fixing things in my apt (heating system). I will probably move after this year because of the heating system. I pay way too much rent to be cold and have to use additional heaters and a electric bill that is thru the roof during the winter.
