Overpriced Ghetto Part II

This is a continuation of the 12/29/03 aptratings review by me. I wrote a letter of complaint to Realty Management and faxed it to them. They never personally responded to my letter of complaint, but in an attempt to "placate" me, they just sent maintenance to fix some of the things that were wrong in my apartment. The minor problems were fixed after several weeks which is still a very long time and totally unacceptable. The major problem, "dryer that did not dry" took 2 months to resolve. I did receive a new dryer but I reported the problem a few days after Thanksgiving and several times after before they sent a maintenace person to check it on 12/15/03. I received the dryer on January 29, 2004. Another major problem was the front door. Simply stated, the weather stripping needed to be replaced, but no, the greedy contractor who they sent to take care of the problem, insisted the front door needed to be welded. He welded the door and the problem with the air coming in through the door still exists. It was obvious to me that he wanted to justify work that would pay him more and the manager, who he stated was a friend of his, didn?t have enough since to call contact me to find out whether the problem had been resolved. It hasn?t and I am in the process of finding a new place and moving out of this overpriced ghetto. This is the ultimate insult, when a contractor can dictate what the problem in a tenant?s apartment is and insists on doing what he wants to do to and never fixes or resolves it.
I am also going to small claims court in hopes of receiving a portion of my rent because I had to pay rent on an apartment that had an improperly functioning appliance for almost 2 months.
I strongly urge those who are experiencing problems at Briarwood to "please" take time from your busy schedules to write to the "Maryland Office of Consumer Protection" in Baltimore, I did. The more complaints to an intermediary agency, the better. Though they cannot force these people to comply, they will intervene on your behalf and the complaint will go on record. Maybe enough adverse publicity will cause these people to change the way they do business, "hopefully."
Realty Management also manages/owns "Crestleigh Apts" here in Laurel also. A tenant wrote a complaint regarding a "nightmare" tenancy there. It can be viewed on "www.ripoff-report.com".

I don?t know about you all but I work too hard to give my hard earned dollars to these people(Realty Management), so they can live in nice houses with our rent monies and act like slum lords.
