Not that bad!!

Years at this apartment: 2004 - 2005
I have lived in Crestleigh for about a year, and although I am not planning on renewing my lease, I certainly do not see why there are such awful reviews of the complex.
For a young 20-something needing a place while they finished school, this was perfect. There were definitely downsides (which I will get into in a moment), but the apartment is big, convenient, and affordable (utilities included!). I had no problem parking...ever. I felt safe all the time and never saw any evidence of crime or bugs (except in the outside hallway.)
Some downsides: the w/d are very small, and you cannot use your kitchen sink while they are running...which is inconvenient but not awful.
The shower is crazy...it will go from boiling hot to freezing cold...after a year this can drive you insane.
There are LOTS of little kids here...which is fine if you have some who want friends, but they are definitely running around 24/7 (often unsupervised) and do play in the streets. If youre around my age looking for people to hang out with...come with roommates!
I had one problem with my sink which took multiple trips from the maintenance man to fix, and it still isnt right, but he was always polite.
The "gym" is tiny and only opened during office hours, so this is inconvenient if you work during the day. On the other side, the water being shut off is also only done during the work day, so it is not as big a deal as people are making it seem.
I felt the people in the office were nice but never really needed to deal with them much. Overall I would recommend Crestleigh if you want to be in this area, it is nicer than many of the surrounding apts I have seen. No place is perfect, it is semi-ghetto (the ice cream truck has spinning rims!) but its definitely do-able.
