Very Overrated and Sadly Disappointing

I have been living in Crestleight for about a year now. I was first drawn to it by the Apartment Showcase advertisements televised on Saturday mornings, enticiing commercials and by what I now consider to be very unreliable word of mouth. Crestleight appeared to be a superb apartment complex with spacious floorplans, convenience, comfortable amenities and friendly staff. Living here has proved it to be everything but! As far as the floor plan goes, it is spacious to an extent. Your normal areas are fine, but I am in a 2 bedroom den with 1 and 1/2 baths. The half bath is to say the least a big joke. It is a toilet in this tiny claustraphobic hole in the wall with a sliding door. The sink is on the outside of the "toilet room" right smack in the bedroom, situated on this weird angled counter top that is held up by little medal rods (resembling those that hold up your towels). Instead of a big walk-in closet like some apartments, there are 2 very small his and her closets that can barely hold your belongings, one of them you can barely reach the back of the closet because of the position of the door and sink. This is mild to the other problems of this complex. Their maintenance is very poor. They only provide 1 working phone jack, which resides in the kitchen. The others throughout the apartment do not work, and you will have to pay for in order to have them work. In addition to that, the telephone wiring is very faulty... and in order to have it fixed, you have to call the telephone company, have them fix it, pay out of pocket, present the receipt to the rental office, and they deduct it from your next month's rent. I really see no purpose for that ludicrous policy when they can just pay the telephone company directly! The water has been cut off several time without notice and with notice, it remains off much longer than stated in the letter. There have been a few times where there was no hot water. This again, without notice. I have had several nails coming up from the floorbeds of the kitchen, sliced right through the bottom of my foot. Everytime I call, they just come with a hammer and bang it down instead of replacing it all together.

The air conditioning/heating unit is constantly leaking in the walk-in hall closet, which in turn causes damage and mold to cover many items in the closet. When I called to have leak fixed, mold cleaned and to inquire about my damaged property. The leak itself was fixed, however there was no-repainting of the ceiling area browned and discolored by the water damage. I was told the mold would be treated and then they would re-paint the area. This never happened... and there is still mold in my closet which is very unhealthy to myself and my 3 children. As far as the damage, I was told that I needed to get a "secondary" renter's insurance to cover the cost of damaged items. I was apalled! I have lived in plenty of apartment complexes, and I have never had anyone tell me that I needed to pay for or have a renter's insurance policy to cover the cost of damages caused by the management's faulty equipment. The 2 vents in the back bedrooms do not work at ALL! Meaning those rooms are freezing in the winter and scorching in the summer. In the winter, the rooms are so cold that ice literally builds up on the inside of the windows. And all maintenance can say is to leave all the doors in the apartment open so that the air can circulate properly. That's just an excuse because that doesn't work either. And lastly, the apartments are supposed to be concrete/soundproof construction. Please tell me why is it that I can still hear music from the upper apartments as well as anything that is dropped on the kitchen or bathroom floors, all the hallway noices and people's comings and goings from my bedroom, and there is the occasional thump and bump in other areas. Parking is an issue, whereas, if you get home any time after 7pm, you generall have to park several buildings down from where you live because there are no available spaces. I believe assigned parking with a designated guest area might solve this issue. The property Manager, Sandy is ridiculously rude and unsympathetic to any problem you are having.

With all that said, these apartments are much too expensive to have all of these on-going issues. I am now in the process of contacting the management with all of my issues.
