Years at this apartment:

2005
The leasing office was closed when we came to pick up our keys, even though we were specifically told to come at that date and time.
The bathroom and kitchen were obviously water damaged when we moved in, but nothing would be done about it because "you can still take a shower, can't you'"
You could hear water leak in the wall between bathroom and kitchen. I reported this many times but I was reassured that it was just normal plumbing noise. Two years later, I notice water leaking onto the kitchen floor. Maintenance shows up over a week later (even though I called every day) and caulks the bathtub! They came back three times and each time they caulked the tub even though it was obvious the tub was not the issue.
A month later the wall actually bursts because the water and subsequent mildew rotted it away (I was right about the leak). My apartment is flooded with moldy water filled with dead termites. I had to sit in the management office for hours to get someone to actually come and see the problem. The inside of the wall is covered in black fuzz (MOLD). The kitchen and bathroom cabinets are soaked through with moldy water, and when they were removed were also growing mold where they faced the wall.
I was told that a contractor would be coming to put in new cabinets and fix the plumbing and wall. Of course the contractor said he was only told to bring the bathroom back to code, and that mgt would not pay for new cabinets even though I had NO cabinets at all now. AND the hole in the wall would be left! My apt stunk for two weeks while I fought to get the wall repaired.
Ken in the management office said since my apartment wasn't one of the renovated ones I would have to live with no cabinets or ones they pulled out of the dumpster! The only way to not have an apartment filled with mold and trash pile cabinets was to sign a new lease at almost double the rate so I could get a renovated apartment. I would have to pay to break the old lease and pay my own moving expenses.
I bet I will be charged for the water damage to the floors when I move out too. Oh, and expect managment to come to your door asking you to clean the mess the contractor left on your porch and the parking lot because "we are having an open house"
By the way, contractors who do renovations break into apartments and steal things. When I complained to management about it, my car was vandalized to the point that it was totaled. It's a pattern that has happened to several residents but management says there is nothing that can be done!
