Good and Bad

This place isn't great but I have lived in worse places. I've been here about 3 years and its been up and down. Management seems to be getting a little better though I haven't had as many problems lately. They never fixed the broken fan in my bathroom from when I moved in and the parking lots are extremely dark. We have had a number of abandoned cars in front of the building which just sit and leak oil for months before anyone does anyting. One sat for nealy a year with a broken window and a flat tire, another for 6 months until someone put graffiti all over it. There is still one out there with no windows, leaking oil and out of state plates that hasn't moved since last winter.
Parking can be tricky if you get home late - spots can be hard to find. Snow removal is VERY VERY slow. There have also been some very creepy residents and rather overcrowded apartments. The one below me had at least 12 people living in it at one point but they were told to leave about 6 months ago. I live in the lower part of the complex which may also make a difference - you don't want to live in this section.

The only MAJOR problem I have had was in my first year here they decided to repaint all the porches and replace all the doors. I got a notice to remove all patio funiture becuase they were coming that week. They came a month later. And when they replaced the door, every door in the building was installed wrong so they wouldn't shut. I came home to an open door that wouldn't lock, as did all of my neighbors. A very nice, yet angry (not at the residents but at the door installers who were contracted out) maintence guy came right out and did what he could so our doors would shut for the night but it took over a week to get a deadbolt installed and that was only after I threatened to go to the states attorneys office.

Since then I haven't had many issues. Maintenence has been prompt. The water is turned off weekly for some sort of service and yes power goes out here frequently - the complex isn't serviced by BGE.

I am now being told I have to move so they can come in to renovate. I moved in when they were starting this process so I knew this would happen eventually. The price still cheap - better than most others in the area - and the location is pretty good for my commute to both Baltimore and DC. Also the Fitness Center is better than any other apartment complex I have seen - though it could be a little better maintained and better lit on the outside.

I can't hear my neighbors and the building has been pretty quiet - though I hear people on the street alot. There are ALOT of noisy kids and cars in the parking lot are very noisy. If you don't have any other place to choose from or if money is tight - choose an apartment that doesn't face a parking lot and make sure you are in the upper part of the community. The lower part - closer to All Saints is full of crime and YOU WILL MOST LIKELY HAVE YOUR CAR VANDALIZED OR STOLEN.

You are very tolerant. My regards to your mother, who must have raised you Lutheran or something. If you look around a bit, you might find that you can do better. Your masochistic streak or religious guilt complex might lead you to hate it somewhere better, but in real secular terms, you deserve better. Truly. Learn to love yourself.
