Two worlds

For those wondering if Willow Lake is the ghetto, here is the answer. The property is actually nice and the apartments are large enough. Rent has gone up, but it's probably to cover the renovations they are doing. We went through the entire winter with a gap between the window and its seal (BGE was happy). New management has replaced all the windows on the property though, so there is better insulation and less noise - and are going to do more. We asked about safety before moving in and were told it was safe. The 1st night there, we saw someone beaten by 2 men with (yes) numchucks. Neighbors yell/fight at all hours of the day and night, have parties at 3am, scream in hallways, have fistfights out front, and stoop in front of the buildings. You also get the bonus marijuana smell now and then in the hallway. Seeing as we were counting down the days until moving out, I would NOT recommend moving in. You have two types of people living at Willow Lake, young professionals working in DC/Bmore, and ghetto residents ruining the experience for others. How much you enjoy your stay at Willow Lake really depends on which building you live in and if the people who move in once you are there are good neighbors. We were unlucky. Maybe the new management will turn things around (especially with safety), until then, the ghetto will still be a part of Willow Lake. Oh, and do your laundry elsewhere.
