Avoid "The Greens" Like the Plague!

This apartment complex has got to be by far the worst place I've ever lived. First of all, the cost to live at The Greens is through the roof! Next, the service received from the staff leaves much to be desired. Last, but definately not least, I don't know anyone who is more greedy and uncooperative when I decided to break my lease early because of a job transfer.

I can't believe how much I paid for what little they gave me. I pay almost $1,000 per month to rent a little 2 bedroom, 1 bathroom apartment. The water bill was around $45 per month and the electric was often well over $100 per month, largely due to the fact that the units were not insulted well enough to keep in the heat in the winter and keep in the cool air in the summer.

Half of the time I thought that The Greens had no one working for them and if they did, the staff personnel were very rude and impatient. The swimming pools were often understaffed during the summer season which led to them keeping the pools closed oftentimes 4-5 days a week. The landscape was not well kept and usually was overgrown with weeds and trash was laying around in the parking lots. Concerning the maintence staff, I was lucky if I could have my clogged shower drain fixed within 4-6 weeks after I reported the problem to the leasing office. Anytime I would call the leasing office with a question about my rent, water bill or other matters, they would either put me on hold for a very long time, or answer my question in a short, unfriendly manner. One time I even found a late notice on my door with a penalty fee, then after calling the leasing office and complaining to them, they discovered that they had lost the check I gave them for my rent payment!

May God have mercy on your soul if you ever try to break out of your lease early when living at The Greens. I did just that. I accepted a new job in the state of Texas and notified the leasing office that I would be breaking my lease early. It's funny how quickly the friendly tone of voice turned to resentment within 5 seconds of me notifying the office manager. They immediately slapped me with multiple unreasonable and unfair penalty fees and began to threaten me with their "collection agency" if I would not comply and pay the penalties. Since moving out 5 months ago, The Greens still continues to harrass me through U.S. Mail and over the telephone demanding that I pay their exhuberant penalty fees for breaking my lease early. I did in fact pay the fee of 2 months rent for breaking my lease, but have refused to pay them another 2 months rent for the so-called "60 day notice" that I was never aware of until I decided to break my lease. All of this controversy has resulted in their collection agency filing an "uncollected debt" with one of the national credit agencies which will result in me having a black mark on my credit for the next 7 years.

So in conclusion: The Greens' I think not!

I agree with you about the community and the staff, but how well did you really ready your lease? I lived there and I ALWAYS ready everything I sign and my lease clearly stated that I had to pay for 60 days worth of rent AND pay a termination fee to break my lease. Of course THEY didn't tell me that when I moved in, I had to read for myself.

I don't seen why paying 4 months of rent, when you pay to break the lease, that's more than enough money for them. These apartments go very fast and you know they had it rented out within a month. Lets face it these apartments are the nicest apartments so far. Next week we having Abberly Crest opening up and they are better mannered and they just look better. Yes people should read there lease. But the manager should be up front and not hind anything. I told them verbaly I was movin out and not once did they say we need it in writting and now 3 weeks before I am moving out they are going to charge me for 60 days. They needed to speak up and say I need that in writting, but no they didn't they waited just so they could get more money out of my husband and I. This apartment complex is outragous and is just nasty to live in. When you wake up with ants all over you, you know there's a proplem. I didn't have any ants any where but the bedroom. So don't tell me that read your lease is the option to go. There are alot of faults on the management. I think the new management is going to help turn this place around but it's a long process. Don't come to these apartments.
