Expensive, but nice

Years at this apartment: 2002 - 2003
I have lived at the Mayfaire since late 2002. First, the bad... when I asked to transfer from a 1 BR to a 2 BR... They charged me over $500 in "fees" (you can?t tell me it costs that much to paint and clean the carpet) and made me start over with another 1 year lease. They charge $10 more a month if your apartment backs to the woods or the pool. Mine backs to the pool, and I have to say that I think it?s highway robbery to charge someone $10/month to stare at an empty hole in the concrete 9-10 months out of the year. When the pool was open, there was nothing but screaming kids throughout the day. Since the steps to each apartment are wood, you can hear anyone coming up the stairs from inside your apartment... even if they?re TRYING to be quiet. Although this is the case with most apartments now a days, I still have to complain... they charge a pet deposit AND $25 more/month for EACH pet. Again... highway robbery. Now, the good. There is more than ample parking. The neighborhood is very well lit. Walking my dog alone at night, I have always felt safe. The rent is expensive enough that it keeps out most of the "rif-raf." The apartments are in good shape. I am under the impression, they paint, shampoo or replace the carpet before each new tenant moves in. The appliances have all been in good working order (which they should be since the complex isn?t that old). Overall, I have to say that I have been satisfied... taking into consideration that MOST apartment complexes now a days charge out the wazoo for every little thing.
