I have very few complaints about Lynn Hill. I'm already on my 2nd lease.
Cons:
*The water temp fluctuates a little, and trying to get truly hot or cold water in the kitchen sink is a pain.
*The floors and walls are kinda crooked but the place is old it's what you'd expect.
*They've taken to refinishing the floors of empty rooms recently and the smell gets AWFUL up here on the 3rd floor. It got so bad a couple nights I got nauseous and complained to management, and the guy that came out was very nice and offered to buy me a fan.
*The fridge is practically touching the oven in the kitchen, so the side of the fridge gets scorching hot. Also there is no hood vent and this is your typical 50s-60s mini closet kitchen. Even with the kitchen window open sometimes I get to the point of about passing out in that kitchen. I run a big standing fan during the worst parts of summer when I'm cooking.
*The doors fall off their hinges a lot from the screws being stripped and door frames cracked. I'm pretty sure we've lost at some point every single door in this apartment less one closet door in my bedroom (probably because we never use it), but maintenance has had good turn around getting them back on.
*The A/C makes a crazy mess of noise when you turn it on and you'll swear it's either gonna come out of the wall or the apartment is gonna blast off into outer space. But then it calms itself down...ancient but reliable technology.
Pros:
*Service requests have been timely and I've only ever had to have them come back a 2nd time once. One maintenance guy even helped my bf get the tv up into our room
*Proximity to light rail is definitely a plus, I've walked there on several occasions.
*Most of my neighbors are very nice, none are rude, and none are really noisy.
*Management is very nice. One of the ladies lives here as well, and that is always a plus.
*My car has NOT been broken into despite having a busted out back window for over a week. Same story for my sister and my boyfriend's cars. Don't leave your fancy radio or your GPS in there (i.e. don't be stupid) and I wouldn't worry...
*The property is pretty well maintained. They could do a little more sidewalk salting, but they mow and mulch and all that good stuff.
*I haven't seen any crazy vicious dogs yet, and dog poo isn't littering the grass like some places. You don't have to watch where you step!
In summary this place is a bargain for the money. The neighborhood is great and access to 295/695 can't be beat. You're not looking for fancy coming here and I prefer it that way because I don't want to pay for fancy. If I were you I'd get on the 3rd floor because my neighbor on the 2nd tells me my garbage disposal is pretty loud, not to mention the added security and freedom from most bugs.
