Deforestation and Elves

It was a bright, sunny day in Maryland. I looked out my window at 11 am. (I was at home in bed, because I am currently employed with a four year degree from a highly selective liberal arts college.) Oh no! I heard the raping and whirring of chainsaws. Freddy meets Jason I ask... in my front yard' I gasped, astonished. Men hung like spider monkeys from the wizened and grandfatherly tree which bent so caringly over my porch area. They were cutting it down. To what reason I question, vehclempt....because deforestation is in the minds and hearts of my landlords. A meager pauper, a tenant on this ant farm, I could raise my voice no louder than a whisper. Mays Chapel Village. Deforestation. Synonymns in this Brave New World.
