The trouble lies WITHIN the gates!!! STAY AWAY!

As the rents here skyrocket to the point that it really isn?t worth it, the property itself declines. If you want to live with drug dealers, strippers, wannabe "ballas", and thieves (not representative of the surrounding upper middle class --------American neighborhood), be overrun with huge spiders, live with a backlog of repairs, deal with new office and management people each week, and have your car broken into on a regular, then this is the place for you.
1. You will pay extra to live in a "gated" community. They?ve only recently installed the gates, and they are always broken. And be aware that the trouble lies within the gates. The people that they were meant to keep out already live here. There are known dealers in this "luxury" building. They let anyone in here! Everyone and their grandmothers knows the code to the exit gate, and on any given day you will see passengers get out of cars, walk around the gate, enter the exit code, and cars come in the exit gate - that is when the gate isn?t wide open because it is broken. Criminals can also park in the outside visitors parking lot, walk in on the sidewalk next to the gate, do their dirt, and then leave. The parking lot is very dimly lit and almost everyone in here has had their cars broken into or stolen at least once. There is no security patrol. On a random walk down a given hallway, you will see rent notices on half the doors. No one stays the full year?s lease. Unwelcome visitors from lesser neighborhoods are also regular here. You will, however, be entertained regularly by what you see - twentysomething girls (who can?t pay their rent but can buy designer clothes and lease a luxury car) disrespecting themselves by showing off too much, and the guys who are just as bad, preying on them. Lack of proper etiquette and home training runs rampant here too, as residents and their guests drop trash everywhere!
2. The management and office staff here changes weekly. Get ready to meet new, shady and incompetent people every week. No one is smart, and they?re more about being cute and keeping up appearances, than getting things done. As I write this, we are without a property manager. We had one briefly who was very tyrannical and sent nasty letters on a regular and we?d never even seen her face. She threatened to put everyone out for not being current on their water bills and demanded payment directly to the building for the bills. This was months ago and the payments made were never credited or showed up on people?s water bills. After that, she was gone. And that?s all I?ll say on that. Oh yeah, and watch your packages that get delivered to the office. They might just end up "missing". The best manager and staff we?ve had left and went to the new community down the road called Truman Park. I think you should go there as well.
3. I guess it must have something to do with being next to a wooded area and lake, but this building is overrun by huge spiders. You can?t even open your windows! These diehard spiders are here year ?round too. It?s worse than a scene from Arachnophobia! I?m sure something could be done but I?m not going to hold my breath.
4. Maintenance staff is pretty much nonexistent due to the fact that it changes more often then management! And be advised, the 24-hour maintenance guarantee is a joke. It might take months if you?re lucky. Invest in a good repair book.
5. The higher the rent increase, the less service you get, and the worse the overall quality of the people here. Yes the lake view is beautiful, but you?re better off living on the other side with a view of the parking lot so you can watch your car!
In summary, avoid this place like the plague!
And if you think this was a racially-motivated bad review, be advised that this is coming from a hard-working, educated --------American professional.
