PLEASE DON'T BE FOOLED.

This is my experience - judge for yourself, but please be careful before handing these people your money.

Perhaps this is the same B.S. that goes on in complexes in this area...I hope not. If I knew how this place would be, I'd have rented in one of the older complexes around the corner and saved some cash. Truth be told - I'm not a big fan of this area, but the apartment staff here is just not helping. Read on...

PLEASE DON'T BE FOOLED by the newness of this complex - there have been TWO BREAKINS SINCE MID JANUARY (check the local papers)- EVEN WITH A STATE TROOPER CAR SITTING HERE (and they use the cop as a selling point).

With a bus stop and two small shopping areas nearby, there is a lot of foot traffic but few (and broken) street lights.

The high rental rates do NOT keep low-lifes out. Maryland has laws that require apartment complexes to rent a certain number of units to low-income tenants. Nothing against them - but it leaves a lot to be desired when you have a bunch of pot-heads for neighbors.

The 'secure' building thing is laughable. People prop the doors open when they feel like it. Indeed - it is interior - and the hallways are cold (in winter) because the main doors to the building have several inch gaps between them, and the individual garage doors open into the hallway. My apartment door has two gaps that are big enough to light my foyer from the light in the hall outside the door.

Many of the 7 buildings face the street, where there is a bus stop (ok if you like the rifraf that hangs out there for no apparent reason) and the cars speed too fast. (That's not the complex's fault - just be wary if you have children.)

There are no grounds to speak of, except the patch of grass between the front buildings and the street.

The parking lot offers room for one vehicle to drive through at a time...and watch out for them - they're rude, despite the fact that you're all neighbors.

The apartments are brand new, and the best thing they have to offer is the appliances. BIG DEAL!

They are poorly constructed, with ill-fitting doors and locks that only work when doors are almost open. Oh - and the ability to know everything your neighbors do. My neighbor's alarm clock wakes ME up. Typical apartment living, though.

My cable service is out at least once a week because it's either crappy service and/or the construction guys cut a line again.

As usual, once the staff rents to you here, they don't follow through with anything they say they will do. When you follow up, one will say they didn't know the other person was already told...bla, bla...the usual B.S.

The 'guarantees' on the Gables web site are a marketing ploy. They do not care. The place *is* still under construction. But don't let them tell you this is 'growing pains'...this stuff won't change.

As long as you pay the rent, they will take your money and your requests - and do absolutely nothing about them. It's a shame. I wonder if anyone from their corporate office even knows who runs this place.

If you are so unhappy why did you move here? what caught your eye to say this was the place for you? Do you live in building 6?...

Good Post...Interestings Read! I must say I have always thought of the office staff as being friendly! I do agree with some of the things you have said, but only with a grain of salt. Seems like you make it out to be MUCH MUCH worse than it actually is! Also for how cheap places are contructed these days I must say that this place is not that bad. I have only heard my neighbors down stairs when the baby is crying in the morning, but only very faintly, and that only happend a few times before. Whenever I have had an issue with something inside the apartment not working they have been quick to fix it. Next day or 2 days after reporting the issue! I do agree that the rent prices here are a bit steep, but its better priced than the same quality apartment living in Rockville.

It's true. I agree, the staff there are friendly at first, but once you ask for something that needs to be done, they look past it and don't even do anything about it until after you ask them twice or even three times again! When we first moved in, there were some problems with the carpet and knobs and such, so we filed a report on things that needed to be fixed so that we wouldn't get charged on it when moving out. But they just shrugged and didn't do anything about it saying that it's alright. How shady is that?? Also, we had the TV on too loud, I suppose, and one of the staff members named Kimberly came up to our room and told us that the volume was too loud. I kindly told her that I apologize and that we will keep it down. Then she had the nerve to make a smart comment and roll her eyes at me as she walked away. I was so appalled I complained to the HeadQuarters. This is a first incident and she had the nerve to give me an attitude. There are some people living here that are a bit shady, but it comes with the area we live in. All in all, I don't have a problem with the Apartment itself because I live on the top floor with the vaulted ceilngs and love it, but the cons to the staff and living area balances that out to not being great.
