I live at Carrollon Manor for several years.

In the last three years (2000 - 2003), the crime in the Carrollan Manor community has risen to an unsafe status.

We have experienced an increase of drug activity, car break-ins, and frequent exchange of gunshot activity in the Carrollan Manor community.

In the last two months, there have been two murders on the property. The assumption is that the murders are drug-related.

With the last murder (9/19/03), the residents displayed their disappointment with the response of the rental office/community manager. It seems as if the Community Manager is more concern about filling vacant apartments and not the quality of applicants that are chosen for these apartments. It is believed that the choices made by the Community Manager, allowed for the increase drug activity on the property.

The residents requested that the playground, on the property, be restricted to daylight hours. The night hours has displayed increased drug activity in the playground and the adjacent parking lot areas.

The residents requested 'No Loitering' signs. This would assist the State Policemen, that lives on the property, to address the loitering (drug sales) with more authority.

The residents requested better lighting on the parking lots. We have experienced car break-in whereas numerous cars were broken into at one time.

I agree with a previous response concerning surveillance camera:
""I believe that Kay Management need to put surveillance cameras up, there has been a rash of break in and theft of resident vehicles, I feel when you're pay a high rent plus utilities the least they can do is to act as though they're trying to protect your property""

I agree with another previous response concerning the maintenance staff:
""The maintenance staff is excellent, they're response to your calls are quick and they're very professional.""

I concur concerning this past winter snow storm:
""The snow storm we had the past winter, the time it took for them to get someone out to clean the parking lot and sidewalks was very poor and it was just the attitude people take since they don?t live there - so they don?t concern themselves with it.""

Residents have witnessed drug sales and usage of drugs in the parking lot during the daytime while children are returning from school. Residents have been robbed in the parking lot; experienced bullets entering the apartments, from the shootings in the parking lots; physical assaults in the parking lots.

I would not recommend the community until the community manager addresses the crime issues with the seriousness it poses.

I will ve moving in this weekend. I need a true opinion. I am desperate. Please respond if you know anything. (roaches, mice, drug activity) thanks
