Expect to pay more and get less!

You will not get what you pay for. I am currently paying $1225 per month gas & electric for a 2bdrm/1bath. The trick is that they offer you a "rent special" to get you to move in. Each year afterward your rent goes up by $100-$150. I stayed because I didn't want to move to another apartment but I wasn't situated to be able to buy a house yet. I figured that if I moved I might be getting into a situation that was even worse. Yes, it does come with a washer and dryer but they are so tiny that it takes forever to get laundry done. As one of the other reviewers stated, the dryer literally takes HOURS to dry a load. Don't even think about drying a load of bath towels! Appliances are antique and outdated as well as the fixtures. Maintenance is virtually non-existant. Management puts money into keeping up appearances on the outside of the building but neglects the inside. Perhaps they could at least do something to cover the nearly 2 inch gap at the bottom of every apartment door. When I first moved here 3 years ago, I did my initial walk through and listed things that needed to be repaired. To date, 90% of those items have still not been repaired. Let's talk about the plumbing now. Everything that dispenses water in my apartment is leaking. Not to mention the fact that last year every other week maintenance shut off the water for nearly 8 hours at a time for some mystery pipe repair that never seemed to be "repaired". Security is a joke. They are way more afraid than you are. Basically, they'd be the one to call 911 after something happens to you if they're even out there at the time. They're presence prevents absolutely nothing. I witnessed a shootout in the parking lot as well as a few small scale police chases. I almost forgot to mention the problem with the homeless people living in the buildings and hallways. It was a real problem a few months back. I was told by management that some homeless shelter closed down so that was the contributing factor in all the homeless activity. All I know is that me and my children had homeless men sleeping directly in front of our door and were afraid to come out some mornings. We would have to step over them to get out. They were also breaking into vacant units and setting up shop. If you get a unit like mine you won't even be able to go near a window or the balcony without a coat on in the winter. You may as well leave it open because so much air is blowing in anyway. Having said all that, it could be worse. It's pretty clean and moderately quiet. I hardly ever see my neighbors. But surely you can see that if I'm paying $1225 I don't expect to have to deal with all that I've been subjected to.
