SERIOUSLY not worth it....I wouldn't be surprised if this entire place shut down 10 years down the line

As a resident of Sutton Walk, the best way I can describe the property is this: You are viewed as a bank acount. That's all.
YES, the spaces are very nice in terms of the layout.
YES, the location is excellent, seeing that you're right across from the Metro stop and are just behind Annapolis Rd.
YES, the prices START OFF at affordable rates.
However, PLEASE don't be fooled by all these "additives." Look somewhere else. I promise you that you'll be much happier. I learned the hard way that the ONLY (I do mean ONLY) thing the management of this property cares about is their money. You, the tenant, don't matter. Since the management doesn't actually LIVE on the property, why would they care if you have a problem' They don't. For example, it wasn't until AFTER I mentioned in a letter that I will be seeking legal council regarding some ridiculous fees (you start off with a discount off of 'market price' for your property, which is why rent appears so low...but if you are late on rent, you can only pay them in a money order or certified check and you have some 'legal' fee of $45.00 along with a 5% charge based upon the 'market price' of your apartment= another way for them to scam money from you) that my concerns regarding my unit were addressed.) that my maintenance concerns were addressed. I called about these issues months ago. Good thing I documented everything (like, videotaped things AS THEY OCCURED) to prove my point about how ridiculous this place is.
The bathroom ceiling in my unit leaked a STEADY stream of water. Interesting that we signed a clause saying that we will maintain our property in a way that discourages mold growth (how can we do that if there is NO RESPONSE from management when we have a leaky ceiling problem'') As stated before, this ceiling was NOT fixed until I decided to seek legal action...as a matter of fact, it was the very next day after I submitted a letter saying that I'm seeking legal council to the management that they finally sent someone to fix my ceiling. Coincidence' No....especially since I called about my ceiling problem back in November of 2008 (today is August 18th of '09).
There is also an INFESTATION problem. When I left the country for a few weeks, I left my place SPOTLESS, meaning there was no food anywhere (fridge cleaned out as well), no waste anywhere, all appliances unplugged....almost as if I had just moved into the place. I come back to find my place the new home of roaches. (No, I don't share my place with anyone.) Roaches. I leave my home and find it infested when I return because of disgusting neighbors. What solution did the management offer me' Set off a few bug bombs in the hallway, because the exterminators only come of the first and last Tuesday of each month. If you have a CHILD, you'll just have to live with these bugs until the exterminator is scheduled to come around....
Need more convincing' It took them more than 8 weeks to remove a stuck key from the front door entrance. Removing a key stuck in a lock takes all of 10 minutes....yet I had to wait about 2 months to have that taken care of...and I bet the only reason why is because I spoke with maintenance directly instead of contacting management again. It also took over 3 weeks to have my front porch light changed. How long does it take to change a lighbulb' (and no, I'm not trying to set you up for a joke here.) Just save yourself the trouble and look past Sutton Walk/Lenox Court apartments. you work hard for your money and deserve to be respected as a PERSON, not as some bank account for management to make random withdrawls.
