I spent hours and hours cleaning the apartment because I know the management is going to try to rip me off on the security deposit so I didn't want to give them any excuse. They still claimed the apartment was not clean enough and they had to hire someone to clean it. I've lived there for 3 years. It should be the management's responsibility to clean the apartment for normal wear and tear and not mine. I have never gotten charged for any of the 7 apartments I lived in since college. This place is a total rip-off, not to mention that you can hear everything that's going on upstairs unless you live on the top floor. The fitness machines were broken and left un-repaired for months at one point. The apartment has theft problem as well. The only thing good is the washer and dryer in unit and location.

I agree with you. I live here and I can not stand the management office. They are doing a new think now about rent reminder which i think is so unprofessional. Rent is late after the 10th of each month. on the 11th, they post bright orrange poster around the whole building including all around the mail boxes telling people that your rent is late now, you should pay to avoid legal actions. I think that is stupid and unprofessional. After the 10th, rent is late. they should know who are late and send a direct mail about their rent and legal actions. It is anbarassing to have someone visiting and see these posts. GHETO.....This property is no longer class A......and AvalonBay as a company should do something to keep their High Standard. I like avalonbay but i can not stand this property.

I agree! When I moved out, I cleaned the place to be spotless. I only lived there for 1 year. No stains on the carpet, I cleaned the stove, oven, bathtub, etc etc etc. They charged me a bogus $300 fee for carpet cleaning. I don't even wear my shoes in the house. If you're moving out, make sure you do a walk-through with management so you know what you're being charged.
