What was that last reviewer talking about'''

A few things:
1. The building's not falling apart -- it's pretty well kept and they have landscaping crews come by regularly.
2. Parking is FREE and not a problem at all as there are PLENTY of available spaces. I am astounded at how many empty spaces there are even on weeknights! In addition, I've never seen any car towed from the lot for not having a sticker (I didn't have one for 2 months and it was fine).
3. The walls aren't thin at all (at least on my floor). A guy down the hall from us blasts music all the time and we can't hear a thing in our Apt.
4. Rent increases aren't that bad. Our double's rent was $1600/month when we got here and went up to $1675 last year. Did I mention that our APT is HUGE with a W/D, dishwasher, two bathrooms, and A/C'' The complex also has a pool, marginal gym (Bally's is right up the street, though), and a sauna. Now as far as those "Huge Markups" -- it's called market value. We all know that DC area rent is WAY TOO expensive, and the Bethesda/Rockville market is no exception (ESPECIALLY places that are a two minute walk from a METRO STOP). Simple economics here folks.
5. The smoke alarm does NOT go off 3x per week! There was a problem with it LAST year (2001) for two days where it did go off early in the morning. It has since been fixed and we haven't had any more problems with it.
That's not to say it's all wine and cheese. We have experienced problems with hot water and the heater; however, these were fixed the same day reported and the maintainence men are really nice.
You know, from some people's reviews, I must have either the best Apt in the building, or those people haven't lived in an APT before. I can only imagine what they'd have to say about co-ops or dorms!
So overall, the place isn't perfect (what is, though). It's a nice, friendly place to live, which has ample parking and easy access to some major roads and the Metro. I'd recommend it for the just out of college crowd (like myself), to just under 30. Anyone else might be expecting too much...
