This place isn't a bad place to live if you don't mind a few things. We had issues with tiny ants. They were all over our kitchen and had to throw out lots of food because it was crawling with ants, including sealed foods. We notified the staff and the next day someone came by to spray. After about a week, the ants were back and we had to call again. They came and sprayed, but the ants came back again. They finally decided to bait our kitchen. At this point, winter arrived and the ants disappeared. Spring time rolled around and the ants were back in full force. We notified the office again and their reply was, "Already'" Not too encouraging.

Also, our dryer broke (they had to manually start the drum). It wouldn't have been so bad except we let them know on Saturday and we were told it wasn't an emergency so someone would be by Monday. Monday rolled around and no maintence. We called again and finally someone came by late Tuesday morning.

If you can tolerate things like this, heavy footed neighbors, and the occassional teenagers who blare their music at the ice rink across the street, this place might be for you.

Were you on the bottom floor? I am in the process of getting an apartment there, and some of the reviews here have me worried. Did the traps help get rid (or at least capture) the ants? Did the loudness of neighbors ever keep you awake, etc? Thanks for any help!

To janetmulligan - Go to Fieldstone Farm apartments instead! It's in the same wonderful community, but off of Strawberry Lake Way. I have lived at Fieldstone Farm (the best of the 3 apartment communities in Piney Orchard) since it was built (less than 3 years ago) & I have never had any problems with insects. I live on the 2nd floor & really enjoy all of the little things that Riverscape & the Groves don't have -larger, open floorplans (benefit of 9' ceilings); pantry; linen closets; medicine cabinets; wood laminate flooring in the foyer & dining room; modern kitchen w/lots of cabinets & counter space; and newer (than the other communities) appliances. If you can afford the extra $100 or so a month, you will never regret moving to Fieldstone Farm! *I originally looked at the other two communities, so I'm aware of the differences (structurally & management-wise).

Whenever you live on the bottom floor you are going to have a problem with ants no matter where you go.

No, we didn't live on the bottom floor. But we still had ants. The traps didn't really help. Of course, maybe there are some that will help. The noise from our neighbors upstairs did occassionally bother us. But fortunately they kept similar hours as us, so we didn't notice as much.
