Shelter Cove Apts. is the worst place I have ever lived in my entire life. Unfortunately, I'm stuck here because of credit problems that won't allow me to get another apt. elsewhere. I was infested with roaches almost immediately upon moving in. They claim to spray every Monday but I've never seen it. They inspect the apts. almost every other month and blame the tenant for the roaches. I can tell you that I am such an ----, neurotic, neat freak that I've NEVER had a bug problem anywhere else I've lived. My kids and I now call it "bug patrol" when we go into the kitchen. You can't leave any food on the stove (i.e., dinner) unless it's tightly covered so I take everything into the dining room - fast! And we rinse all our dishes before using them. I've lived here since 2003 and the dishwasher has never worked, there are cracks in the bathroom ceiling, the carpet, which was new when we moved in, now has ripples in it as though it wasn't stretched and put in correctly-and it certainly isn't stain-resistant! I'm ashamed to have anyone come over. It's a truly filthy environment and everytime something breaks they blame the tenant and it never gets fixed anyway. I have to put the heat on "on" and push it up to 90 degrees just to get it to turn on - it won't work on auto. The drafts from the front door and patio doors actually make the blinds move. The management staff are nasty and rude. Other tenants play music loudly all hours of the night and management says to call the police who say they can't do anything. Management's "custom" answer to everything is "put it in writing" but it still doesn't do any good. Rules change in the blink of an eye and no one ever tells the tenants that there's been a change. My husband moved into his own apt. 3 months ago - got a great place here while I'm stuck in this crappy one. The management worked behind my back with him by downgrading our apt. to his 2-bedroom and I had to reapply for the 3-bedroom we had lived in for 3 years! Plus, I've had to sign my leave TWICE and haven't rec'd a copy yet because "the manager hasn't been around to sign it yet". As soon as I can, I am soooooooooooo out of here!
